I thought fsd was vision based not LiDAR? It’s been a big convo but… check out these sensors :)

I think the “big convo” has been whether the FSD will be LiDAR or vision based - which is a separate matter from whether in testing Tesla utilizes LiDAR tech to do certain tests/calibrations

afterall, nobody’s suggesting the production version of the CT will have two big LiDAR cartoon eyes on its hood

ongoing mini debate RE whether the white googley eyes on hood are LiDAR type sensors or instead every days tow marker lights used by the tow truck operators
I didn’t realize it was a debate. The white things are for LiDAR and other sensors.

On the other Teslas the hardware was mount onto as the body is aluminum. For the CT, I thought SS is also not magnetic. Are they on with suction cups or are there some SS that are magnetic. For me every SS has not been magnetic and as such make it much harder to weld and am forced to use clamps..

Is Stainless Steel Magnetic?
Most people are unsure whether stainless steel is a magnetic or a non-magnetic metal. Some believe it could be magnetic because it has traces of iron, but in a real sense, the answer is neither a yes or a no. Some stainless steel varieties are magnetic while others aren’t.

Is Stainless Steel Magnetic? It Depends.
Austenitic stainless steels are the more common types of stainless. These grades have higher chromium and nickel content. The higher nickel content makes austenitic grades non-magnetic.

Aluminum isn't magnetic, either. They probably use suction cups and/or adhesive.

I can confirm that the 301 stainless on the DeLorean is non-magnetic.

It never stopped us from telling the new guy to go to the tool room to get the aluminum magnet.

I, too, do not see cracks when zoomed in. Where was this photo taken? Texas or Nevada? Or, Elon's favorite state, California?
