Amazingly, this is very similar idea to the DeLorean's luggage rack.

It bolted over the rear louvers, since the gull-wing doors would interfere with a roof rack. Of course, it was then impossible to access the engine lol.

Looks useful, but draggy.

Even the RhinoRack that I have on my current FSPU provides drag you can both feel and hear. As a result, I take it off when I'm not carrying a canoe (or whatever), for the improved performance.

I'm a glider pilot and so I'm unusually sensitive to these sorts of things -- having the roof rack feels like having the drive brakes on a glider closed by not locked. My truck has sufficient power to overcome this, but taking the integral of the unnecessary drag over a multi-hour road trip yields a snifter full of fuel I didn't have to burn, and hours of non-laminar airflow I didn't have to endure.

Roofracks sometimes do the work that you bought the truck to do -- and they can also look badass. But, they come with efficiency & NVH tradeoffs. I use roofracks only when necessary.
I have a Thule Aeroblade (same as their current Wingbar) and it's less resistance and whistle than the pro bar or the old square bars (which I still have from my '87 Honda Civic!) but it still drops my range by 20-40 miles empty. So I take off the parts I'm not using.

Being able to stow the rack in the vault would be super cool.

Do you often access the engine while fully loaded with luggage?

I'd prefer a removable glass cover over the bed.

I care more about seeing out the back of the truck while I'm driving it than I care about hiding the cargo when I'm stopped. I realize others may have different perceived needs here but, given where I and what I do, the additional visibility while driving is a clear winner for me.

The glass rear hatch would need to be removable, though. I currently run my Sierra with a tonneau cover on most of the time, but I remove it and leave it at home when hauling bulky cargo. Removing and re-installing the cover is trivial -- though it is easier with two people due to its physical size. If I had a solid glass tonnaeu cover / hatchnback on the CT, I'd expect a fairly trivial removal/reinstallation.

The Cybertruck does not have a traditional rear-view mirror, but instead displays the rear camera feed on a screen.

I'm well aware that Tesla plans to provide a camera system, but I still find value in being able to use my eyes directly.

My current truck and travel trailer both have cameras, but sometimes I have to roll the window down and hang out the side of my truck to see the right things -- especially when I'm backing up in confined spaces.

I've written quite a bit on this board about how useful wireless trailer-cameras can be. I use the Furrion system, and I find it to be valuable.

However, given the choice between having a rear window and not, though, I'd prefer to have the rear window.

The tail gate is the major obstacle to any direct rear view. The glass on your tannaeu cover would create very big refection and deflection making the view distorted.

Yeap.

Even in my Model Y, rear visibility is limited. On the Cybertruck, the driver sits way lower than a normal truck. About all you are going to see through that tiny rear window looking backwards is what’s in the truck bed.

I think the rear view mirror has been replaced by a camera on the bumper in any case.
