When invoking the switch in either direction, the tonneau only moves about 2-3 inches. It takes multiple button presses to get it to move all the way open or closed. Any ideas?

I had this problem ever since delivery. Periodic tonneau calibration would mitigate it for awhile, but I ended up having Service perform a repair ("removed tonneau and adjusted closure components").

Mine acts the same way. I figured it was dusty desert and Tesla design requiring a dust free environment…kinda like their glue requiring no freeze thaw cycles, perfect use of cabin overheat protection, and absence of direct sunlight.

You probably already know this, but just in case this might be the issue, a “long” press of the button will stop the tonneau when you release the button. You have to do a super quick boop to have it open or close fully on its own.

This did trip me up early on. Good to point it out.

Did calibration and no effect on problem. I “think” it may have jumped a tooth (assuming it’s gear driven) because it’s longer on one side. I guess it’s a service call.

Huh, that should be really hard to do.
How much longer?
When mine was sticking one side would bind and look shorter when closing or longer when opening. I needed to gently pull on it to get it to close.

You can do all the tricks and hacks on forums but best to schedule SC appt and have them realign cover. It's happened to me a couple times, SC fixed and its been good. It's unfortunate but the system is not bulletproof. Good luck!

It’s about 1/2 inch long

I just got my truck back from service for very similar behavior. They said I had a "misalignment in the cover mechanism" and a "broken clip".
