Not everyone will consider the wrap a good deal or affordable, even at half the price.

But enough takers will keep the Tesla installers busy 100% of the time.

Some customers don't care if they pay extra. What they receive is measured differently.

They trust the PPF is good quality, the installation is good quality, they trust the warranty, and don't want to be farking around should anything go wrong.

Each to their own.

Besides, its not that Tesla is double the price. They only need to lower 10-20% to be on par with quality wrap shops.

If it's anything like the other colors for the M3 and MY, we'll maybe get light steel, medium steel, dark steel, steel steel, clear, and Ultra Red.

As an aside, if someone with real photoshop skills could impose that yellow from the topic header picture over the full CT, that'd be much appreciated. That's the color I'm thinking of wrapping it, but I can't really "see" what it'd look like in my head.
We have an art installation in Melbourne.....'YELLOW PERIL'
Check it out before you get to the checkout âś…

Because the wrap will let you make it more unique, and you can change it at any time. You don't have to worry about the steel underneath fading or sticking or whatever.

How long do wraps last? I hear they only last a few years, like 3 max. And then they can burn into car and have major issues. Is that true, would a SS backing be

Don't see the point of Tesla getting involved with this, margins may be great but at this price point there's not going to be much volume. They would have been better served by focusing their attention elsewhere and left this to third party shops.

What’s the diminishing list of features? I can only think of two. The tailgate ramp and 3rd seat up front. That’s not really much in the grand scheme.

They even added one with 4 wheel steering and maybe another with drive by wire.
Sail storage, user accessible air compressor and integrated lightbar come to mind. Range and payload numbers also looking shaky.

Sail storage wasn’t shown in the prototype unless I’m wrong. Neither was integrated compressed air. Light bar, yes. But it looks like they’re working up a ln accessory solution to that. Range and payload, we’ll find out.

Varies wildly by environment, printing, plastics quality, and how well it's applied.

Some only last a few years. Others two times as long, maybe more.

Bad ones might burn into paint, but there's no paint on a Cybertruck. Or create shadows, but there's no paint. And that varies by the paint, too.

I clear wrapped my Model Y's frunk lid, front quarter panels and fasia after watching a good YouTube how-to video several times. Only the fasia was challenging because of the contoured surfaces. The only way to mess up wrapping a flat surface is to leave solution bubbles under the material, and those can be easily bled. I'd wrap the CT myself without hesitation for a color change. Pre-cut kits will be offered which will make DIY even easier if more expensive than bulk wrap.

Sail storage was pictured in the presentation at the reveal, but that was likely a render.

Make mine satin Cyber-yellow metallic to match my Compass Yellow R1T

Such a beautiful color. I canceled my Rivian reservation when they canceled Compass Yellow and refused to honor my 2-year old preorder because I wanted the Max pack. I plan on wrapping my CT the same color as tribute to what could've been.

They were both in the presentation slides back in 2019.

I'm not a fan of "we couldn't tell you until it was revealed but we already knew" kinda stuff. Either say it before reveal, or say nothing. Tesla is now wrapping Y's and 3's, it's pretty much a certainty they will wrap the one-color CT. They've been showing wraps left and right.
I agree.

Thinking a bit here, conjures up a downside of offering factory wraps:

Tesla detractors, those trying to cast shade on Elon, Tesla, Cybertruck, whatever they can do to slow the disruption down, will now say the Cybertruck is a bad value relative to the competition since the bare metal is so ugly it needs a $8K-$12K wrap, just to be seen in public with it.

Personally, I could never put a plastic film on such a beautiful and durable metal surface. I like the way the reflective skin of the Cybertruck glows at night and reflects the colors that surround it, day or night. But to each their own. The PPF wraps will provide plenty of profits to Tesla as Cybertruck ramps which will help keep prices low for those of us who don't like to waste money on vanity items. Win/win.

Everyone wins except for the Tesla shorts (whose only real win is another empty talking point).
