That's BIG.....I did the same thing for my parents when I upgraded them from a HW3 model Y to the latest Model Y. Transferred the FSD (huge since now on HW4), got the Federal Tax Credit and a very good and fair trade in price. Now that this is available on the 60k AWD CT......I think will seal the deal for a lot of upgrading!! Nice job TESLA
How does the tax credit work? Do you still have to file if Tesla already gave it to you at point of sale?

I'm doing this and yes, the car needs to be ordered by March 31 date and then you can do an FSD transfer. The stipulations from Tesla are:

To complete your Full Self-Driving (Supervised) transfer, your current vehicle must remain in your Tesla account and under your ownership through delivery of your new vehicle.

Removal of this vehicle from your Tesla account, including but not limited to sale or ownership transfer, until FSD (Supervised) has been activated on your new Tesla, will result in forfeiture of the FSD (Supervised) transfer.

I ordered the DM (premium) on Feb 5th so no issues for me. Remember, Feb 14 2026 was the last day you could purchase an FSD license so only FSD transfers are possible now or, until Elon changes his mind ... again.

At times it does seem like they are just making this shit up as they go. Planning? we don't need no stinking planning ...
only the olds will get this Blazing Saddles paraphrasing. :)
I was told yesterday the policy changed and you must take delivery by 3/31. There is no way I’m risking this idiot policy because the ct delays are too long. I wanted to upgrade to a beast. Right now Tesla disgusts me. Just stupid and customer hostile behavior

Also, Elons new compensation package requires 10 million active FSD subscriptions within 10 years, given that, you can see why they are trying to skate out of the FSD transfer.
I wonder how 10 million active FSD subscriptions can be evaluated?

- In the case of FSD owners, I read recently that there are about 13% vehicles with FSD.
So this is easy to find the number of FSD active in this case.

- But in the case of FSD subscriptions, some users might only subscribe one month a year during their summer holiday trip.

So in this case, does a single month can be computed as an active subscription?

Or even, if a single subscription has been paid, even few years ago, for a particular vehicle, would this vehicle be considering has having an active subscription?

I believe it is on-going monthly subscriptions, once in a blue moon doesn't count.

Once you start using FSD, most do not cancel it. I bought mine, which also is counted as a subscription.

BTW, The CyberCab is also counted as a subscription, even though it's Tesla using their own product themselves (but it brings in revenue)

Tesla is a very quick decision company. Corporations are normally very slow in change.

I kind of had the feeling the FSD transfer deadline was the date, since FSD purchase deadline was 2/14, which gives a month and half time for purchase and delivery before 3/31.

While it is bummer, they are refunding the $250 order fee, so is not a loss to anyone if the promotion was or was not available.

But them how many users will honor the refundable reservation?
It's a little bit like the previous $100 CT first day reservation, which reached 1 million.

This will be the first time I do it. Got this off ChatGPT
📌 What you must do when filing your federal taxes

  • File Form 8936, Clean Vehicle Credits with your 1040 tax return.
  • Attach Schedule A (Form 8936) which details the credit and indicates that you transferred the credit to the dealer at the point of sale.

Fsd folks Crack me up. Pay for all this performance then sit there like a granny and get driven around. Unless you're elderly or need it, I don't get all this hand wringing.

Im glad its month to month subscription. I will probably opt in in summers when on family road trips but that's it. How is everyone turning over enjoyment of driving this damn thing to a computer.
You’ve obviously never ridden it in “ Mad Max” mode. Just sayin’

No it doesn't. According to Grok

No, the Cybercab itself does not count as an FSD subscription toward Elon Musk's Tesla compensation (pay) plan milestone.

The FSD subscription milestone specifically tracks active monthly subscribers (paying users on personal vehicles), not Robotaxi fleet vehicles like the Cybercab.

You can't put much faith in Grok or AI, it just googles the question, it really has no idea, lol

On several discusssions of the criteria, RoboTaxis was specifically mentioned as counting towards the 10M active subscriptions, as well as those who bought FSD outright, they are counted in the monthly count as well, though they are not paying anything ongoing monthly.

Thanks for the update. I won't blindly believe Grok anymore. I asked ChatGPT and it said
RoboTaxi vehicles count (even without a paying owner)
Vehicles operating in the RoboTaxi network are considered active FSD users, even if:
  • No individual is paying a monthly subscription
  • Revenue comes from ride fares rather than subscriptions
  • Tesla owns or controls the fleet
From Tesla’s perspective:
  • The vehicle is actively using FSD software
  • The software is monetized indirectly
  • That still qualifies as an “active subscription” instance
So yes—RoboTaxis are explicitly counted.

I just gave my neighbor a CT test ride.....he was interested in the truck itself and didn't know, understand or realize how amazing FSD is....he told me that he thought it was just a fancy cruise control....after the demo he was SHOCKED!!

Just had A Cybertruck AWD demo for 48 hours. One by one took 5 of my truck driving friends for demo rides. They were all shocked by FSD. One of them kept coming back to my window after dropping him off, thanking me over and over. It was kind of funny. Reminds me of when I did a 48 hour test drive in the 2026 Model Y. Three of them now have the Model Y (one was an upgrade from a Model 3).

Also gave the owner of a local car/truck repair shop a couple rides in my Model Y. A lot of customers come to him for car purchasing advice. Yesterday he told me that he's recommending Tesla to everyone, especially the older folks who are worrying about their declining driving skills. Safer for them and for us.

Just confirmed by @sawyermerritt

FYI: I’ve been getting this question a lot, so I just confirmed directly with Tesla (not a sales advisor) that as long as you place your new Tesla order by March 31, 2026, you can transfer FSD to your new Tesla, even if you order the $60k Cybertruck AWD & take delivery in 2027. But again, all orders must be placed by March 31 to be eligible.

That was what I was told as well, just don't delete your old truck from your app until the new one arrives was my instructions.
