I'm looking for some advice as I just received the email to order my Cybertruck. This will be my first electric vehicle (although I have rented without much owner experiance)

I just started the process of building a home which will be completed in the next 12-16 Months, I was actually hoping I would receive my CT config email as a much later date.

The Order process is giving me the options:

#1- V3 Gateway (Aprox $1,200 value)

#2- $700 Tesla Shop Credit

#3- 6-months of free super charging

How many supercharging miles would I need to be near the $1,200 V3 Gateway value?

Or in other words on average, what would every 1,000 CT miles driven cost me if I only used supercharging?

I want to select the best value option, I do have a few future road trips planned so the super charging option may give me better value than the v3 Gateway. Not to mention as the V3 Gateway must be installed by a tesla installer this may have to wait until after my home is completley built and not during the build process. By the time I can get all of this done its possible the V4 Gateway will be released.

"Foundation Series Cybertruck All-Wheel Drive customers who are not eligible or decline Powershare Home Backup will instead receive either 6 Months Free Supercharging or a $700 Tesla Shop Voucher, depending on timing of ineligibility or offer decline."

That’s interesting. It sounds like a new order flow.

Given they are seeing if you’d like the gateway OR the other options, is it your understanding you will get the universal wall connector / charger either way?

If so, this sounds better than before where it defaulted to home backup.

Gateway is not all inclusive of install cost. You could say that is the most expensive option if you do not want it. Though IMHO it is worth it.

I was just offered. 6 months of supercharging- I’m sure because I already own a Tesla solar. Roof and battery. I have no idea if I wil get the same value as other offers. But you can bet imma gonna drive the hell out of my CT and supercharge it as much as I can. I really want to be able to charge my home from my CT when it’s available. I call my CT my Urban assault vehicle, so after the earthquake I can get the hell out of LA!!! Lolll Two gen’ z dudes told me I was driving a “Tank!” I said it rides like a fucking. Carpet. And nothing gets in my way on purpose! Lolol. They did laugh. ?

Superchargers are in the neighborhood of $0.35/kWh. And the truck will use about 0.4Wh/mile.

If my math is right, that's about. about $0.14/mile.

But to use it, that means that you have to go to a Supercharger, and if you can charge at home, that's far from convenient. I believe that it is also time limited to 6 months.

I haven't got this choice email yet, but to confirm:

1. For me, already have solar, gateways, power walls. So I don't need the v3 gateway right? Also already have the universal wall charger.

2. Credit seems like best option here, too bad they didn't make them all just the same value.

Supercharging in Ontario Canada was $1 per kWh. even with a 37% exchange rate it works out to 63 cents. In western New York the supercharging rate was Like 43 cents per kWh. Cleveland Ohio they have floating rates depending on location, power level (250 is priced higher than 150) and time of charging. Daytime charging can be 30% higher than late night charging. But I'm going everywhere when I get my truck. I think if we travel for extensive periods of time I would stay at a cheap campground and charge there. To super charge in Ontario with my Y it was $90+. a campground overnight stay could be as low as $35. Some Tate campgrounds have destination chargers at no charge so we could use primitive areas.

For you, I’d probably go credit.

But I am still not clear on though is, does the universal wall charger come with the truck either way (for new Tesla customers)? Or does it go away if you don’t get the gateway and you’ll need to spend most of the store credit on a wall charger anyway.

Dunno but heck if the universal charger comes too, I want it. we have a 2nd nema plug in our garage that I'd also convert to it. we have a split system, two 200 amp panels, we have 2 gateways, 2 solar, 2 power walls on each side. would like to be able to provide power to each side yeah.

I believe that the gateway is the piece that you do need. The Cybertruck provides 240V, not 240V made of 120V + 120V that your house needs. One of the pieces includes the transformer needed to create the center tap to provide the 120V services.

I was listening to what these guys were saying at 26:00... basically if have powerwall/gateway now, and charger, then your "good to go" as they say ;-)

Thoughts?

It took a little bit to find it

V3 has an auto transformer to generate split phase 120V from the Cybertruck's 240V no neutral output.
from (3) First Powershare home installation | Tesla Motors Club

And may be readily apparent as to the issue when you look at the Tesla connector:

Tesla Cybertruck V3 Gateway Vs $700 Shop Credit Vs 6-months free super charging 1714420930053-97

Where's the common wire? That little one, which is way too small anyway, is the communications line.

I declined the quote for PowerShare because it was over $4k which I just didn’t want to spend. I’m hoping to get the $700 shop credit.

I am in the same boat, I confirmed with the election that I declined it and it was marked on my account, but how long until I see the $700 credit. I do not want the supercharging, so I am sure thats what they will give me.

Thats good to know, so you don't need to confrim the Gateway, $700 credit or Supercharging option right away? I'm only at the configuration email but did not 100% confirmed & finalize yet past the payment page. Sitting a few days on the decision to order or not.
