Is it 8? Manual calls out 4. https://www.tesla.com/sites/default/files/downloads/wall_connector_installation_manual_80A_en_US.pdf
Comparisons:

Gen 2: 4 units
Gen 3: 6 units

Gen 2: wired connections
Gen 3: wifi

Gen 2: 100A breaker max (80A max charge power) shared across all units
Gen 3: With individual breakers, can have any total power level and each can have a different breaker rating

Operation during loss of communication is different also.
Four it is! I was just going from memory!

Aside from the wall connector looking nicer, and slightly higher charging speeds, are there any other benefits I'm missing? I don't drive much on a daily basis, 30 miles/hour is more than plenty to fill up overnight, plus it seems nice to have a mobile connector I can unplug and take with on road trips.

Thank you for the info for all. My house does not have 240v...
Unless your house was built in 1800s you probably have 240 power coming in. 240 is just two 120v legs. If your main circuit panel has two rows of circuit breakers, that is a clear sign of 240 power.

It was built in 1927, thank you very much. But it is just a small beach bungalow, 240 is overkill (with gas appliances) until you get a cybertruck.

Its my understanding that for power share (from CT to home,) you need the wall connector when its released ?

For standalone Powershare you need UWC + Powershare Gateway (3V), that all works now.
For Powershare with Powerwall, you need a WC on the backed up side, once Tesla releases the software.
There have been different things written as to whether any 240V EVSE will work, Tesla WC only, or Gen 3 WC/ UWC only...
