Claim is Tesla engineers said each carbon-wrapped motor can do maximum of about 400 hp.

Model S Plaid motors - say goodbye to induction!

.....
Brooks was at the Model S Delivery event. He talked to some of the Tesla engineers who were answering questions. It appears that all three motors in the Plaid are identical. I
.....
He also learned that each motor makes about 400 hp, but the current Model S Plaid battery can only supply enough energy to max out the three motors to a total of about 1000 hp.

I have a question on dyno tests. How does it calculate HP and torque when measuring vehicles with different weights?

Does 500HP/torque mean the same on a 3000 lb vehicle vs a 6000 lb vehicle? I'm sure the Plaid weighs less than the monster trucks but would a Plaid motor in a heavier vehicle give you the same HP rating and higher torque when geared to the weight? (I'm asking a serious question because this matters on the CT and Semi. HP and torque mean something but many times numbers don't translate to actual real-world experience.)

Second question. Semi is shown with four motors, one for each rear wheel. Does anyone believe the Semi could operate properly with a single Plaid motor running each rear axle? Maybe add extra motor for front axle just because.

(sorry, I keep editing)

ok found this website: https://calculator.academy/electric-motor-torque-calculator/ Doesn't appear weight has anything to do with it which I find interesting.

I’m retired and haul no trailer, nor haul any cargo in my Cybertruck. I don’t need anymore than one motor. I just want to drive around with my dogs and enjoy the scenery.

I totally get that. If the single motor got the sort of range I feel I need I’d be quite tempted. I seriously hope it sticks around. I actually have one on order with a single motor configuration. I figured having a second reservation I might have the chance to change up the configuration later on once I have a feel for the truck. I think by the time my second number comes up the resale value on the truck will still be decent.

I have to wonder if a single motor would be powerful enough to push the heavy CT. You're in Folsom, CA, correct? The snow line going up both 50 and 80 used to be much lower than it is now but I presume you head into the mountains at all times of the year so having the extra power will help you up the hill as well as having AWD will help in the snow.
I never go to the snow..i just want my truck.am i going to have to order a dual motor??

We don't know. Model 3 they eventually came out with the base model. But demand was so high and supply so limited for Model Y - Berlin and Austin are behind schedule - they never did come out with the single-motor version.

Hard to predict the future. My spouse says I can upgrade to the dual-motor. And if Tesla is like in the past, they will let you change that when the configurator opens. They always let people upgrade.
