I fully agree with setting up a schedule if you have a regular departure time and even setting it up to "scheduled "charge time" and "departure time"

Not unlike a smart phone charger, if you set up a schedule, your truck will be able to charge as it seems is the most beneficial and healthy way to charge during the time it's plugged in.

It is really nice departing with a pre-warmed cabin!

People have added their 2 cents so I’ll contribute my 1 cent.

- Plug your CT in every night (if you have PowerShare, it powers your house in the unlikely event you have a temporary power outage overnight). This means you don’t wait until 20% or less before you start charging.
- Charge up to what you need for that day. I charge to 50% most every day. Kyle Conner (Out of Spec Motoring) charges his to 50% daily to prolong battery life.
- Going on a trip, I charge to about 95% with it finishing when I am scheduled to depart. Adjust the amperage on the phone or CT screen.
- Adjust the charging amperage to 15 amps to 20 amps. This suggestion is not for the CT. This is for your home wiring. There is no need to stress your home wiring system if you don’t need to.
- Don't let the CT sit unplugged with < 20% charge.
- And, as noted by others, don’t overthink it.

Tesla: "To maintain service life, the battery pack should be stored at a state of charge (SOC) of 15 to 50%."

(I have my limit set to 80%) or should I only plug in whenever I hit 20% and actually need to charge up?
No and no.

Limit should be 30-50% and don't wait to charge.

This is straight from the Owner's Manual. No one knows more about taking care of a Tesla battery than Tesla, haha!! It's so easy.

And set the limit to whatever works for you. I leave mine at 80%.

Don't overthink this.

Check with your power provider. Many have "off peak" rates, typically at night. Schedule charging accordingly.
