I noticed allot of small scratches from the wiper after the latest software update. I have around 500 miles and after the update my wiper comes on every time I start driving and also during the ride even without using self driving, navigation.
I always try to keep the wiper clean but it's not helping when it dry cleaning my window every day without water by itself.
Now I have several long scratches right in my field of view and it drives me crazy.
Also I noticed that it won't clean evenly and leaves allot of streaks especially on the passenger side
Have an appointment for that next week and also will ask about scratches. Maybe because it sits not flush to the window all the way it creates scratches too? Too much pressure in some spots?
Anyone has the same issue?
This is crazy my LR with 65k miles has none and I use it for off-roading allot....

Yes I have the exact same issue. It seems like not enough water is being squirted onto the windshield causing those streaks.I only have 3000 moles on the truck so the blade should not be worn out.Post your results when the mechanic looks at it. As far as the wipers going on by themselves the service center told me that they are aware of the issue and the engineers are working on resolving the issue but that was a year ago

Mine is in service now, and I reported the same issues. They’re replacing the wiper blade, arm, and entire windshield assembly, no questions asked. Others have said a new wiper helped the issue, but I still think more fluid needs to be sprayed out.

I’m sorry can I get clarification? Do you mean they’re replacing your entire ā€œwindshieldā€ when you say windshield assembly?

Same question popped in my head but I figured assembly was mentioned to them.
FYI, only on the related parts if it is not the windshield. EPC url

He specifically mentioned ā€œwindshield assemblyā€ in messages and in person, so I assume he meant the glass since it’s scratched. Sorry the wiper arm was the third item. They were waiting a few days for windshield assembly to arrive.

I guess it’s still possible to be the wiper motor assembly, and he just named the wrong part. I don’t think so though., because they said the ā€œfront motorā€ was in stock, meaning the wiper motor, when I was actually asking them about the drive motor. In short, the Wiper blade, arm, and motor are in stock there, and being replaced, but they were waiting on ā€œwindshield assemblyā€ which is now there for tomorrow’s work.

I’m I understanding that somehow the wiper created permanent scratches on the windshield by running without enough rain and/or washer fluid?

Definitely here to track this, I have a scratch the entire arc of the wiper right in the center of my view.
The bulk of my driving is going to be out in the desert west with no precipitation and using my wiper (sometimes completely dry) just to get dust off the windshield. I now have a light bar that’s glued to it and it seems like I’m going to have to be concerned about silica/dust scratching up the damned windshield!?

I hope this isn’t the case. There’s no way this would work on Mars.

My windshield has one long scratch in it also. The wiper runs on its own sometimes if the system can’t get a clear image from the front camera. The glass seems softer than normal glass and easily scratched if any debris on the wiper blade.

A few years ago, I had a protective film put on my model S windshield. you might try that. I do notice some dust scratches on my CT, not sure if I'm going to cover it now.

It’s not the glass. It’s the lamination which in the past would normally be inside two layers of glass, now on our trucks and other products such as the Apple Vision Pro - it’s on the outside. That’s what I’m ranting about.

I too don't like how the wiper cleans. What fluid comes out gets thrown aside before it can spread. I've been putting off getting service because the streaks are only on the passenger side. Guess it's time to have them look at it.

"perplexity" claims the lamination is between layers of glass .

I can’t speak for the windshield with certitude (although I’m pretty sure), but I can guarantee you that the driver passenger front and rear windows have a laminate on the outside.

I know, sadly, because I scratched them trying to remove some residue from my cyber-antlers (long story) and glass doesn’t scratch this way.

If the front window didn’t have laminate on the outside, I don’t believe these guys wouldn’t be getting scratches on the windshield so easily.

Troubling.
