Windshield shattered while cleaning

The windshield has been hazy since day one. Very hard to keep clean. In sunlight it had almost a crystal like finish. Wondering if this was a sign of improper tempering.

That is due to off gassing from all of the new vinyl in the truck. It will happen for a bit when new but after a couple of good cleans after it’s done off gassing it will be good to go.

The interior glass haze is understandable but it’s the glass itself that has a unique look. In certain light it’s not clear but has sparkles throughout it. Nothing I’ve seen before and I’ve been in the auto industry since I was young. Even when the glass was clean it wasn’t clear. ??‍

Well, it is a different kind of glass, more like what's on your phone than in other cars.

I had the same thing happened to me about a month and a half ago. After tropical storm, Debbie came over Jacksonville. It rained for three days and came out one morning and I had the same pattern on mine. I called my insurance company and ended up having to have Tesla replace the windshield because it was covered under my insurance, but it’s interesting to know that finally somebody else has seen the same thing. I thought it was maybe somebody hitting it or doing some nefarious thing to my vehicle, but I saw nothing on my ring camera or century events to figure out why it did that. I always thought that maybe it might be a manufacturing defect, but I didn’t want to deal with trying to figure that out and just had my insurance company reimburse me for the windshield cost , just an FYI it was $1900 for windshield and $450 for the installation which obviously would be covered by the insurance company …. I will attach pictures.

Tesla did not say it was under warranty and told me I should go to my insurance company…. so don’t assume it’s under warranty.. see my previous post on my experience

I go Monday to Tesla. They said they’ll have a technician look at it and if they determine there was no outside force that caused it (rock hit, etc) they will cover it. I’m praying that’s the case and the technician is honest and not a “company” man. If not, I’ll be calling my insurance. Tesla quoted me $2,615.09 ??‍

Well, because you posted on this form, I have reached out to Tesla service to reevaluate whether it qualifies for warranty work. Prior to your post, I saw nobody else having the same issue so I just went ahead and had this covered on my insurance. if this falls under warranty, I’m hoping they’ll reimburse the insurance company. Don’t need unnecessary insurance claims. Just an FYI, make sure you document and take pictures of all the framing around the window because the Tesla here in Jacksonville bent the framing and said it was already that way. So make sure you document everything as I did so they can’t say it was already a certain way. You will find that most Tesla service centers have never replaced a window for the cyber truck. When I picked up my vehicle after the windshield was replaced my air air conditioner would not function correctly. I had to look on a TikTok to find the fix for the AC. It appeared to be a sensor on the windshield near the rearview mirror that needs to be re-paired with the car. To do this, you have to go into your service menu and reinstall the software… I hope this helps

I found that wiping it with the shammy after drying works best for the unremovable haze that comes with the truck.

That sucks, sorry to hear that! Meanwhile my truck was vandalized and they replaced bother driver and passenger front windows under warranty. ?‍

It’s because this windshield is fucking impossible to clean. I too was trying to clean the windshield above the auto pilot cameras and while I didn’t feel like I was exerting a lot of weight I could hear a slight cracking sound. I don’t see any visible cracks but won’t be doing that again

3 and half month, 5000 miles passed, i haven't cleaned my windshield from inside yet. it looks intimidating to reach the end of windshield.
