Finally got my plates installed and tested. (sort of) Haven't gone through snow yet so i threw a glass full of crushed ice on each. partly melted within a minute. mostly within 2. just a puddle in 3.
outside temp was 36 degrees. Powered from my 12v converter, controlled by my Auxbeam.

For a visual, here is what is being attempted to be solved. I decided to go with a bumper lightbar that I’ll be covering with an amber tint. This accumulation was during a 34 minute drive at 24 degrees, with snow falling at approximately 1.25”/hr.

This seems to be what I am looking for. You said you get it from tlinesports? How is it powered? A link would be great. Did you install it yourself? How long did it take?

Yes. Got it from TSportline and here’s the link:
https://tsportline.com/collections/...bumper-insert-led-off-road-light-bar-lightbar

It’s powered from the frunk power feed and the lightbar comes with the proper deutsch connector. The instal videos are very good. There’s just two simple wires that you need to cut, splice and connect and overall, it’s probably 45 minutes to an hour, depending on your wiring skills. Not complicated at all and well worth it for us.

We added an amber tint to increase the wavelength for the storm conditions we encounter.

Adding a tint does not increase the wavelength, it just filters out the other wavelengths. All the amber is there in the white light. It filters out the blue, which scatters light making it more difficult to see in some conditions. This isn’t important, but to clarify that it’s not increasing wavelength, but decreasing shorter wavelength, providing less light.

Does the light bar get noticeable warm, seems strange that it doesn’t build up snow on it, while the other flat surfaces and DRLs do?

Well outside my area of expertise as was only trying to give a very simplistic reason as to why we decided to use it.
Simple Ai response as this is what I was going off of: adding an amber tint to a white light bar effectively shifts its emitted light to longer wavelengths, typically from the blue/white spectrum (shorter wavelengths) into the amber/yellow range (around 590-620 nm) by filtering out shorter waves, which improves visibility in fog, dust, and snow by reducing glare and enhancing contrast.

Don’t know if there’s any significant generated heat difference between the lights as never tested to see. There’s no ledge for snow or ice to be built up upon, so that’s my best guesstimate. What I do know, is that we had the biggest and deepest storms in the Sierras over two weeks and with variable conditions and temperatures. I had zero issues with it as it exceeded all expectations and immediately solved the issues we were having.

No shelf for the snow

but be careful of ramming or hit a snow pile with the light bar that low
