Is anyone else finding that a lot of the music on their playlists won't play in the CT? I have a number of playlists with songs on them that playback just fine on my phone or on the computer, but the app in the car keeps showing "Playback Error" messages and I have to skip to the next track for the music to keep playing.

I can't tell for sure, but I think it only occurs when it comes to a song in my playlist that I originally uploaded back in the Google Play Music era.

I see that same thing, especially like you said with the imported playlists. What's weird is that when I get the "Playback Error" message, if I then search for the song in the search bar, it'll find another version of it which will play fine.

BTW, if you didn't know, when the search bar is up you can use the voice input to enter the search string. I'd been trying to type and drive until I realized this works.

We had the same thing happen on a road trip with Spotify. Continuous "Loading Error". I would love to know how to fix or get around it.

Yes, same issue when I enter the vehicle. Clicking around the interface to play a song fixes, but it would be nice to get in the truck and have YT Music start playing without the error.

Same problem. I have not had the problem with Spotify but I'm experiencing the Playback Error on YouTube Music when playing podcasts. Appears to be random.

Turn on your phone hotspot and connect your CT via wifi (keep on while in drive has to be enabled).

I have a feeling your CT cell connection is buffering or being throttled.

mine gives the error but as soon as I click a different song it will start playing then I can play any song from that point without any errors... so basically errors out on the very first song no matter the playlist.

Thanks for the input everyone. I recall reading someplace that YT Music was limited streaming of songs from uploaded tracks, but I can't tell where in YT Music the music source is.

This is happening for me with podcasts that are downloaded on my phone when I try and play them from the CT Youtube music app. If I play them from the Youtube music app on my phone via bluetooth the podcasts stream correctly.

Ah-ha! This explains why YouTube Music is unusable for me except via Bluetooth. 90% of the music in my playlists is songs I uploaded back when it was Google Music.

I've also had a problem where it forgets who I am and I have to re-complete the OAuth flow.

I was hoping it would get better in future software updates, but if YouTube is deliberately crippling it not to work with uploaded music, I guess I'll have to stick with streaming from my phone.

I am having a real problem with YouTube music. It seems to play all the music I want when I'm on wi-fi, but when I'm on the road it plays none of the popular music I want.

For example, I search for "guns n roses". It pulls up all the proper search results just fine -- albums, songs, etc. But when I tap on one of the popular songs like Welcome to the Jungle, it plays something else entirely. A totally different band and song. The one time it actually played the song I wanted, it played some live version of it, rather than the album version I tapped on.

But then I'm sitting in the driveway on wi-fi and it works perfectly. Someone please tell me there's an answer to this.

Edit: Just to add to the weirdness: I went on my computer and then added the albums the car refused to play into a YouTube library, so that I could play them from there rather than a search. In the driveway everything was perfect. I went on the road, and suddenly each album in the library was missing all the popular songs. What the hell!

That is weird. I assume you're a YT premium subscriber. Are you sure the search results aren't playing from Slacker or spotify? The search UI in the vehicle is not well designed and you have to pay attention to the icon next to the result to determine which service the Tesla is returning results from. I've searched and had the Tesla UI show me the same song from all three services that I had turned on - Spotify, Slacker and YT. The only way I could tell the difference was the small icon next to it.

I get this all the time but for me it only happens when I exit the car then get back in later in the day. It never picks up where it left off. Always says playback error

Yes, I'm a Premium subscriber of YT. I'll check for the icon on my next drive, but I'm reasonably sure it was paying from YT. I'll update a bit later.
