Nice! Pretty good considering horse trailers are almost like having a parachute strapped to a vehicle in terms of efficiency.

I towed a 4-horse trailer full of goats 50 miles each way. I was pleasently surprised with the eifficency I got and wanted to share for any who are curious.

Was the trailer loaded? What was the total weight being towed? Whats your tongue weight?

im considering CT as a primary tow vehicle for a travel trailer, so these kind of threads are valuable data points.

Am glad you are happy with the drop in half of the range while towing.

That should make the owners of Lightning happy while complaining their range dropped by 40% while towing their brick RVs. :ROFLMAO:

I’ve read a little into towing a travel trailer with a CT. Getting something “aerodynamic” like an Escape, Casita, Airstream, Scamp or A-liner will make travel trailer life a lot more doable. I’m looking at 20’ and below lengths.

I was really hoping to get a Escape 5.0 5th wheel that can be towed by a Tacoma but as of now and maybe forever no 5th wheel option for the CT.

Northern Lite was able to do truck camper for Lightning on a payload of 1,200 to 1,500 pounds.

Their design makes for very aerodynamic campers.

CT had 2,500 lbs. I proposed for them to use mine for their design. No bite.

I would likely be towing a 30ft trailer. GVWR 9k-10k lbs. Gf hates the way airstream looks… ?. No 5th wheel for the CT… unless i get a tow hitch dolly. =$5000+.

The idea of only being able to drive 90-120 miles between full (45min or more) charges is daunting, but i think as long as the time is available it doesn't matter. The rest of the time i would be using the truck like a normal EV to commute back and forth to work.

i wonder how much difference aero on the CT itself would make? (Rough idea below). I watched a jerryrigeverything video describing how the airflow over the ct sucks the air down over the bed and then smashes into the front of the trailer creating a ton of drag.

it could make some extra covered bed space too. It would have to be stiff but light.

Even without it, charging is a huge challenge and f*n waste of time (have watched a whole Netflix movie and quit to do one more to complete charging) and definitely not fun.

The trailer had 11 full grown goats (~150lbs each) and 10 kid goats (~50lbs each)
Trailer itself is ~5800lbs
Camping stuff ~400lbs
Total = ~8350lbs
Tounge weight = ~900lbs
