Tesla isn't planning on making more than one Semi a day for the next few years. A gigacasting machine can spit out 250k per year. We don't know how many are made in a run, but no matter what it is, that's still alot of gigacastings to sit around waiting for Semis to need them.

Now, that's not saying they might not do this: They have multiple gigacasting machines, and several on order, and when they started up the one at Fremont they literally filled every square inch of their back lot with castings before they used them in cars, to even out the testing phase to the production consumption. So they could do this.

It's just, you know, less likely until they're making enough batteries.
