it’s not a rounding error. quick math:

50,000 FS trucks x $2,000 per truck cost of lifetime supercharging = $100,000,000

someone in finance will notice the $100 million. hopefully!

other option: allow anyone holding the $2,500 voucher to purchase lifetime supercharging for $2,500. that’s likely a win-win. no new liability for Tesla and whomever wants lifetime supercharging (not me) can buy it for their FS CT.
Yes, but you’re leaving out the denominator. I get somewhere between .5% and .9 of profit for 2024.

Cybertruck incentives, discounts and improvements will only get better in 2025. We can’t be far from a dry cathode 4680 battery pack.

Musk…

“It’s a great truck. We need to make it more affordable in the years to come.”

now multiply by the P/E ratio. this is the real cost to Tesla shareholders.

And recouping some of that cost is why they conceived of (and then dramatically expanded) the Foundation Series ploy in the first place. Although I know it doesn’t make them completely whole by any stretch, it’s still kind of an Ouroboros.

Again, to be very clear with you, I understand that I got everything that I bargained for and I don’t have a problem with that. But will I sign a petition that somebody creates saying I think I should get free supercharging for life? 100% yes!

Will I be one of the guys trying to stop somebody who’s motivated to do that and try and point out all the reasons why Tesla should not consider giving me free supercharging for life?

No, I will not be that guy.

I’m not stopping anyone from anything, knock yourself out. Just pointing out that people seem to apply different rules to Tesla vs anything else they spend money on which is illogical. I just wish people were more consistent in their complaining and targeting, that’s it.

A bunch of you are suggesting that the FS should have come with lifetime charging by default lol. Do you guys have any idea how much money Tesla would be throwing out the window? Telsa is a for-profit business and it's absurd to suggest that you just get unlimited stacking freebies simply for being an early adopter.

Having said that, lifetime charging is a STEAL of a deal for a skilled tradesman to capitalise on.

Seems to be one of those benefits that would appeal to a first time EV owner. Most people I speak to don’t realize I charge at home 99.9 percent of the time. Supercharging is for long distance trips only (for me).

now it is a huge benefit to someone who commutes a lot daily and street parks. Not sure how many CT owners that includes

do I wish we had free supercharging? sure, but we all agreed to plunk down our dough for what was on offer at the time we bought it.

When gas goes down $0.08 per gallon the day after you fill up do you complain to the gas station attendant? or how about if a gallon of milk drops 20 cents and you’ve already consumed some? store manager? or when you buy tires and a month later there is a $150 gift card with a set of four that wasn’t available when you bought - complain to the CEO? I’m guessing you’ve never used Amazon, because prices change constantly and yes, you paid more than someone else on many, many purchases. I guess you can’t fly either since you’ll run into the same issue. or book hotels.

the auto business always turns on/off discounts and price adjustments. nothing new here. you can also wait until demo trucks become available at a slight discount. or factory repaired trucks. or used inventory.

it will always get cheaper if you wait long enough. also, if you wait too long you’re dead (we all are) and you would have spent your whole life chasing the best prices and never bought anything. your heirs will thank you though. so there’s that.
I got the CT as soon as possible as I am not getting any younger. But it makes me feel younger and puts a smile on my face every single time I get in it. I wouldn’t reject free supercharging if they gave it to me, but I’m not gonna obsess about a perceived unfairness. Life is too short to look for reasons to be upset. If you look, you will surely find it!

Something special for Foundation owners would be nice and I would love to have Lifetime Supercharging… I picked up my Beast in September, I was a day 1 order but decided to change to Core Pirelli’s & Tactile Grey and that delayed my delivery by 3 months or more. On delivery day in NY it was like, there’s your Cybertruck in the lot, do you have any questions. I would give the detailing grade a 6, one wheel cover was not even secure and I would have lost it if I did not notice it. As long as the stock keeps going up, I really can’t complain and will always own Tesla’s, my Cybertruck is the 4th Tesla I have purchased. :)

Same here! Did Pirellis and gray on my foundation beast. This is my second Tesla to my M3P stealth. Free supercharging would definitely help to make me whole again after the whole missing out on $5500 in upgrades, honoring $7000 FSD, and FSD transfer allowance.

This is my first Tesla and will probably be my last. I love the truck but the entire buying experience has left a bad taste in my mouth and I am learning it’s the norm with Tesla .

As one of the earlier buyers I was just two days late at missing the credit for the PowerShare installation , still no wheel covers or lightbar and now I am screwed out of Free SC for life

To all that are saying “ well you still got the $2500 credit for PowerShare “ well that’s nice and all but the FS buyers should’ve been given an option. By option I don’t mean the Tesla way where they offer it for two months then secretly remove the option that was printed in very small print .

I totally agree. I rely on mostly supercharging since I live in a studio. This would be really nice
Very interested. How many miles do u have and how much did u spend till now? I’m in a similar situation and trying to find out if the deal would be worth for me
