yeah I used the free 6 months, but still the voucher should have been for $2500 (that is what I got in my email at the beginning). Anyways $2500 is a drop in the bucket compared to unlimited supercharge. I would have kept this truck for 10+ years if that what the case.
My Vin is in the high 6k range and I assume based on your $1800 credit and 6 months of SC you are a similar VIN or delivery date (late may). If so I think we were just is this very confusing time where Tesla was adjusting the policy left and right. I most know folks who got the $2500 and one or two that got the 6 months and $1800 BUT I’ve never heard an instance where someone got the full credit and 6 months. If so please let me know because I’d be glad to chase Tesla down for the extra cash.

One cool thing is they converted my $1800 to a Tesla account credit which can be used for SC. Just has to be used by end of next year I believe. This should make up for it a little bit since nothing really peaks my interest on the store and it’s always sold out anyways. It sucks because had I waited until not I would have gotten $1k military discount, $2k self referral, $1k referral, and unlimited SC. Not to mention I probably wouldn’t have had all the issues of a low VIN #. I really do wish they would have taken care of the early adopters more. I believe ours should have come with lifetime SC. Especially for the premium we paid.

This is not fair at all. Free supercharging should be available on all foundation series trucks. ??‍♂
You have a weird definition of fair. All of us bought FS trucks willingly with the specs and vouchers available at the time. Actually the voucher situation has improved we now have additional time to use it and can split it up unlike it was before.

do I wish we had free supercharging? sure, but we all agreed to plunk down our dough for what was on offer at the time we bought it.

When gas goes down $0.08 per gallon the day after you fill up do you complain to the gas station attendant? or how about if a gallon of milk drops 20 cents and you’ve already consumed some? store manager? or when you buy tires and a month later there is a $150 gift card with a set of four that wasn’t available when you bought - complain to the CEO? I’m guessing you’ve never used Amazon, because prices change constantly and yes, you paid more than someone else on many, many purchases. I guess you can’t fly either since you’ll run into the same issue. or book hotels.

the auto business always turns on/off discounts and price adjustments. nothing new here. you can also wait until demo trucks become available at a slight discount. or factory repaired trucks. or used inventory.

it will always get cheaper if you wait long enough. also, if you wait too long you’re dead (we all are) and you would have spent your whole life chasing the best prices and never bought anything. your heirs will thank you though. so there’s that.

Did free supercharging for the first 5k miles come with FS?

Read the fine print! It does not come with the voucher. I may spend $50 a year on super charging, but am very happy with the Powershare. Those saying it's not fair should read the entire promotion first before complaining.

You are correct of course. We got exactly what we’ve bargained for. That’s an unavoidable feature of being an early adopter.

And this is clearly now a fourth lever being applied to these trucks to try and move the foundation series models without having to discount them. By doing so, Tesla is actually doing us a favor - keeping our trucks from depreciating even further.

That said, this does feel like a bit kick in the teeth.

AND it does feel like the kind of thing that Elon, generally, upon reflection realizes was the wrong thing to do and reverses his course.

Early adopters have had to deal with all types of growing pains, rivets, wiper recalls, motor failures, unbelievable attention and public scrutiny, etc. also, nobody really likes to admit it but there was a little bit of a bait and switch with the whole idea of the Foundation Series initially being limited to a select few and then extend it out for nearly 12 months.

As someone who isn’t famous, didn’t have quite enough stock, or meet any of the other initial criteria I’m a beneficiary of that extended run, but Tesla also was able to recoup some development costs by expanding the FS offer window so it’s not like they were doing us any real favors.

Anyhow, this gesture would be probably less than a rounding error into a lot for customer loyalty, morale and I believe that if there were enough people clamoring for it it’s probably something that would happen.

Just my initial thoughts.

it’s not a rounding error. quick math:

50,000 FS trucks x $2,000 per truck cost of lifetime supercharging = $100,000,000

someone in finance will notice the $100 million. hopefully!

other option: allow anyone holding the $2,500 voucher to purchase lifetime supercharging for $2,500. that’s likely a win-win. no new liability for Tesla and whomever wants lifetime supercharging (not me) can buy it for their FS CT.

That is quite disheartening. I totally agree all the FS should get free supercharging. It's like punishing the early adopters the ones willing to pay the premium the ones willing to take the risks. Makes us totally look like fools for not waiting. Someone should tweet Elon about this travesty he's usually pretty good at making things fair.
Someone let him know asap!

It’s a fair point. But, I think there is definitely a fairness argument to be made nonetheless and I don’t think this is one where we should be working against our own interests if people are interested in complaining about it before seeing what Elon/Tesla think.

I used my voucher to buy the winter wheel and tire package which despite being able to order as if it was an inventory I still have not received to this day. So it’s been an absolutely no actual value to me yet However, because, I have to fix some other issues before I can even install my wall chargers at my house and so I have only supercharged my CB and it has not been inexpensive. Had I been given the option I would’ve gladly given up my credit and delayed my purchase for free supercharging for life 1000%.

personally though I’m not a petition kind of guy I recognize a good opportunity for me to keep my mouth shut and potentially receive the benefits of someone else’s labors.

Having free supercharging will seem like a fair deal to us when we stuck our necks out and they produce a CT with substantially better range in two or three years.

Imo this is a great incentive to sell the remaining inventory, as an early adopter my incentive was different, it was about getting the truck ASAP. Fairness is your perspective on what is considered to be of value or incentive. Another view on fairness, it's what the biggest guy in the room says is fair. You bought your truck from the biggest guy in the room. Enjoy your life, enjoy your truck, live in the moment, show love spread love ❤ (and please keep giving each other the middle finger, I freaking love that)
