They were not. IDRA doesn't have a forge. IDRA doesn't have Tesla's proprietary aluminum. IDRA doesn't have the molds. It doesn't make sense to send that stuff there and build a forge large enough to test the press prior to shipping other than maybe clamping force but even then, it'd be expensive loading up the hydraulics do just have to drain it all for shipping. There isn't much chance it won't provide the 9k ton pressing capability. At the point of shipping, we aren't even sure Tesla had finalized the rear castings. They probably had a good idea but with the adding of 4-wheel steering late in the game, it's possible they only recently finalized the engineering for that one particular part.mmmm
maybe why it took so long to dismantle the presses in Italy. They were testing and using it for this cast.
