Just put my reservation for RAM. Just in case...
$100 is not a big deal to make sure I will have EV truck by the end of next year....
WTF, so dealer makes more than the guys that actually make it. Sounds like a dying business model.

Thats a stock gladiator? RR is a known aftermarket upfitter
What is a stock Gladiator? hmmm. This is a 2022 Overland Trim, which is 6th in price of 9 different trim levels of Gladiators. I have no idea what all this dealer added on after delivery and is calling RR package. It did look like bigger tires. But, $28,784 worth of aftermarket extras? This dealer is notorious. Last year they had a TRX they marked up $50,000, to sell for a grand total of $150,000.

Meet the new Ram… same as the Old Ram. Slightly different hood. Different wheels.

Today's Super Bowl ad for the Ram 1500 REV

I thought it was pretty damned funny. Particularly considering the issues Lightning owners have been having and the crap state of CCS charging networks.

I don’t think it’s a particularly good commercial for actually selling their platform. It’s hard to pump fear and a product at the same time.

Don't even need to watch that ad, the title itself tells me how far they are from understanding where the market will be in just a few years.

Ram just lost the last of the tiny bit of credibility they had in my book.

Today's Super Bowl ad for the Ram 1500 REV

That ad is pretty much the same as saying,

"We will not be making these electric Ram trucks in any number; they will be barely available for years. We are just following in GM's footsteps of pretending to electrify to keep the EPA off our back for a few more years. If you think you are getting one in 2024, the joke is on you."

I think you give GM too much credit here.

I think GM is genuinely trying to figure out electrification and are just so incompetent this is the best they can do. They’ve poured billions into this and gambled it all on a single battery supplier, now they had a spat and have to pivot. Essentially starting from ground-zero again.

Stellantis‘ message about electrification has been pretty consistent since they had their come-to-Jesus moment last year. They want to pump the idea that they waited until just the right moment to electrify their product lineup and the result will be the perfect EV platform.

This first offering suggests reality is they are releasing their F150 Lightning equivalent 3-4 years after Ford did.

How fast does it take trucks to switch over to fully electric? Seems like with sedans and smaller cars we’re about 30-40% there and the ICE sedan/ compact SUV market is likely to collapse completely in the next 2-3 years. Trucks?? How quickly does Tesla get Cybertruck up to 500k/ year?

yea I thought it was a pretty funny swipe directly at the Lightning

trouble being, the issues they swipe at are fairly inherent to the state of electric pickups: namely, ICE pickup drivers being unfamiliar with how to manage a BEV. Nothing is going to materially alter those issues for a truck anytime soon, unless Ram is going to supernaturally provide its own charging network as ubiquitous as gas stations (it won’t). Tesla has a significant leg up in that department.

Otherwise, it comes down to ICE pickup drivers understanding both the benefits and limitations of BEVs, before hand, or the hard way.

That said, always been envious of the Ram-box!
