The EV truck segment is going to be so competitive in 2025. I would have placed a deposit today but I read it is non refundable if you get a call to configure. I can see them jacking the price like Tesla did and taking my measly $100 while trying to harvest the cream.

I really want the CT but the projected price is too much and the range is not there for my longer trip plans. If these guys can really make a mid grade truck for $65000 with 145 miles BEV range plus 400 mile range extender as they claim, I think I am in. My wife prefers the traditional look as well which will save me from an expensive divorce.

Hypothetically if you could choose to buy a CT Dual motor with increased range 374 mile (10% increase) for $70,000 or a REV Ram Charger for $65,000 with 145 mile BEV plus 400 mile ice range extender for $65,000 what you you do? Assume July 2025 delivery.

Bring on the competition to see how Tesla reacts.

Will a REV be available at that price? Won't it have half the battery of the current demo trucks?

I'm on the Chevrolet list as well and will buy whichever I can afford, but neither is available so it's so hard to say.

I just can't believe their numbers at this point. And a pure battery would be cheaper in the long run...

I REALLY doubt the REV will be $65k… Tesla is UBER conscious of driving down build costs to drive down truck/car costs to make a profit. And they are in the 70s. If the RAMREV is 65k, I would guarantee they are taking a massive loss that isn’t sustainable

The current info says 74kWh and 145 mile range. Less than 100 mile bev range and I am out for sure.

I would really like a smaller range extender motor. I am not getting how a 500 plus hp motor is required to turn the 130kw range extender generator.

You would think bev should be way cheaper but once you put 160 kWHrs you get a heavy expensive truck. There might be a sweet spot between weight and extra components and cost.

We don't know Teslas margin. It may be really high now. Car companies will continue to take loses for a while to remain relevant for market share. The prices definitely won't come down without some volume. They know that.

I have to stick with my hypothesis in that competition will force both improvements and cost reduction a year from now. This includes Ram just hitting their targets and Tesla improving to match plant output to sales.

RAM frame/body tech is very cheap to produce. RAM is also putting the same motor in several ICE models so they will already have volume.

Pricing will likely be different in 2025.

I think the lightning, Silverado and REV will be fine trucks… but did you see ford with the lightning? Two years and they still aren’t close yet on affordability/not losing a crap ton…
It takes such effort to drive down costs and get them to scale. Dodge won’t be able to wave a magic wand and create affordable EVs (especially Trucks) within a year … I bet they make a good truck, so for consumers, they will love it… but I am HIGHLY HIGHLY skeptical that they will be the OEM that can completely transition without losing a boat ton of money on every truck they make.

but the optimism is noted and appreciated on the forum

If you want a Silverado EV now, I have one of the RST first editions ordered that I’m not going to take. It was just built and is about to ship from the plant. PM me if you want details and I’ll connect you with the dealer. It’s Summit White, fully loaded with the 24” wheels.
