Your hope is unfounded. Much like the hope of those looking to get their midgate any way they can.Hopefully this will put the silly rumor about the vault cover sliding into the cabin to rest.
You can clearly see the rear window is blocked while the vault cover is closing. It’s been this way since launch day.
In the video from the tweet, there is clearly no light coming through from the cabin to the bed. But we don't really see why there is no light. Just that it is very dark up at the front of the bed. Now if the tonneau were configured like the launch night prototype, one would expect that just before the tonneau was fully closed, the top end of the tonneau would raise up past the internal window and light would start to be seen in the truck bed. But that doesn't happen either. And in fact, at the beginning of the video, if the tonneau were fully stowed, there should be a window visible between the bed and the cabin. But that is not the case either.
All I see here is the tonneau operating very smoothly. And a mysterious dark area at the front of the bed for some reason. The darkness could potentially be partially explained by the tonneau but not fully.
