I was hoping on the down-low for a tailgate style opening. Once again my unrealistic dreams are quashed.
I wouldn’t quash all dreams entirely just yet. While I agree, it may be unlikely, nothing forecloses the possibility that when the front opens, there’s not some additional functionality like a slide out deck, or some thing, that may get you part of your frunk gating.

Too much of this picture doesn’t pass the smell test. I want it be the trunk open but I’m seeing what to see. Hopefully we will get a more definitive view soon.

I’m hopeful if all this, but less convinced

I won’t be surprised if it’s a bit larger in volume than the lightning, but I’m unsure yet if it will be materially larger.

Let me be devil’s advocate a moment:

  • The CT design can cause one to think the “dash comes way back” compared to a Lightning, but on the other hand, the Light in’s traditional hood is seemingly huge compared to the CT’s stubby hood. The design differences between them make it hard to judge whether the CT’s huge window just offsets the Lightning’s huge hood.

  • the CT is OEM running relatively large 35s like a Raptor, but apparently absent the extra 6+ inches of vehicle fender width as a Raptor. That requires significant wheel well space within the CT envelope. that wheel well space meanwhile, doesn’t yet account for the CT’s casting volume that sits even further interior of the wheel well space.

  • the nose of the CT seems less tall, meaning the Frunk floor to ceiling volume could be materiallless

none of this to conclude the CT Frunk is smaller or same in volume, or larger in volume. Just to outline some of the things that cause me to be unsure which way this all leans
You may be correct but the inside of the Lightning frunk is elevated quite a bit and comparing the Lightning grill to the Cybertruck it not that much taller.

The only way I would be okay with a tailgate opening is if it folded all the way down and out of the way. would be dope if it did tho

What view would you like? What would provide you ample evidence of whatever you’re worried about?

Noice! ?

As predicted from the beta model photos and front side gaps, we now have confirmed grill lift for the frunk lid like the Lightning! That's awesome, much easier to load and organise, and even allows us to do an outside pull out sliding kitchen if we want. Now we just need to see some sail and under bed storage action!
This also guarantees that we will get the top light bar because DOT doesn't allow lights to be on movable panels and the workaround is to have other lights as well. You can see this on a lot of taillights that are integrated into a rear liftgate where there is a second set of rear lights, usually around the bumper, that only come on when the liftgate is open.

Lots of solid interactions that you have to consider, plus environmental and safety constraints.

I wonder if you can still see the road if the CT frunk is open.

Also I noticed in the crash video, in the under-body shots, that there are two structural elements that come forwards to hold up the front bumper. These look like they will be ideal to mount an aftermarket (optional?) bull bar to the front of the CT. The only thing then is given the grill lift opening now, the bull bar needs to be far enough forwards so the frunk grill can pass behind it. It also means any bull bar that is higher than the bumper will partially block frunk access.

Otherwise you need a bull bar that folds down too... or some sort of self folding transformer style bull bar, that can be deployed for country roads, but otherwise is hidden for driving around town. Could even be made speed sensitive and aerodynamic. I've been toying with idea of adding active aero parts to the CTas mods. Even a front and rear inflatable nylon cushion would work, you know like outside airbags. Only question is how do you get them to look nice, but maybe not that important whilst you are zooming past at speed.
Bull Bar? I thought you called those Kangaroo Catchers. When I rented a car there they asked if I wanted one on the rental. I said no thanks. On the drive from Sidney to Cairns we saw over 100 dead Kangaroos before we saw one live one. Not one dead bull. :)

Maybe folks need the official Cybertruck Chicken measurement overlaid?
Not to diminish Orges excellent work with his chickens but I found the florescent tube as a better measuring devise.

I'd like a picture from the inside of the frunk, specifically the release lever

Thought this might be a helpful reference,
it’s the complete width of the truck which means it’s possibly much wider opening than Lightning.

Obviously the wheel well is the limiting factor but that full width is going to enable a great many interesting things.

Can you imagine the night time photo of that frunk open to a nighttime sky with the blade of light cutting into the heavens.

I can see the headlines now. Cybertruck blinds pilot, cuts down plane.

Roo bar actually. Nobody wants to catch a roo, especially if they jump and land on your windscreen, and leak into the car trhough the window cracks...

But if you hit a bull you normally have a wreck of a car next to it, it will stop you, bull bar, or roo bar, or not.

first, nice truck (we’re twinsies)

what I was driving at is better seen by this:

Tesla Cybertruck Cybertruck spotted with frunk open, revealing waterfall design! C5E9369C-A6F6-47BB-95F1-D6E6B75B5F74

again using the Raptor because of same sized tires for scale

the yellow and blue vertical line are the face of the dash (under which leg room extends forward)

the topmost red line is the highest point of the hood, which is also ~the top of the dash (eg the uppermost bounds of the possible interior headroom)

the middle red line is the lowest point of the hood (eg the lower bounds of the possible interior headroom)

the distance between the bottommost red line and topmost red line give some scale regarding the relative depth of the front ends

As for the width, given the CTs large but inset tires, and the given the resulting inset wheel wells, and given the further encroaching encapsulation by the front casting, I’’ll be eager to see the available width within the usable front cargo area

Merely a rough-out for one guesstimate of the encroachment on sides as relates to centerline and hood height

Again, none of this to argue what the actual interior cargo space will be, but instead only outlining the devil’s advocate elements that I see - counterbalancing promise I see - that leaves me less certain the CT’s frunk is self-evidently materially larger than the Lightning’s
