on one hand, the frunk is the only possible location an OEM winch could fit on the CT front end

in the other hand, the frunk is a terrible location for a winch

gonna need a bull/roo bar

I would prefer the Winch neatly tucket way as Qball said under the Frunks floor panel which can be accessed for maintenance, and the front panel can lift to use the winch.

But while we are in that area, I don't know where the number plate is going.. if it attaches to that little panel, seems it will obscure the front camera.

More likely behind the license plate behind the little cover that comes off next to the bumper camera.

The frunk would be a convenient place to preemptively layout the cable though.
I hope that piece of plastic is better fitted and more substantial than the awful, ill fitting hitch cover on the Model Y. My guess is that's a forward tow hook but it could also be a beverage dispenser door ...

that’s the location of the front number plate mount, required of OEM’s in several U.S. states

your country will need a different bumper/camera location design.

they have a few years yet to come up with it

I didn't read all the postings so I appologize ahead of time if this is a repost. The below picture is from the wind tunnel post and in this picture, one can clearly see the front facing grill was part of the hood that was removed.

Is it my eyes ?

Why is there an angle ? Seems to me it just should be flush with the body

I agree. The angle is off. It could be constructed that way, but my intuition tells me this is just a poor photoshop job.

Like the MY and M3, there will be aftermarket front license plate holders that will attach to the vent grilles below the "beverage dispenser" :)

You think I'm karma farming? You think I need the attention? I mean that in the nicest way.

It's real.

Nope,

That's what the sharp angles of the truck do with lighting. You can see this effect in the crash test video too, and in the nightime joy ride video.

the angle is what is needed in order to:
  • account for the fact the hood seam at windshield both is flush and also not straight, but instead curved - if the hood doesn’t lift both forward and away from that seam, it’ll pinch
  • account for clearing the BAW - the BAW mount extends off the windshield just at the seam - again requiring the hood to lift both forward and away, to clear the BAW
the hood curve, flush, and BAW needing cleared:

to clear, it’s surely on a hood hinge similar to:

Meanwhile, the OP picture is a still grabbed from a video showing the hood up - not likely to be CGI

The angle is unavoidable because the windshield is curved. To avoid it it, you'd need a piano hinge (perfectly straight) between the windshield and the hood. Flat windshields are bad for lots of reasons (they give blinding reflections, they are much less strong than curved ones, etc.) and have not been seen on any vehicle for at least 50yrs.
Jeeps?

Exactly... Just like the one we had from Hannshow license plate holder we had. HAD... That word means something.... It means even though we followed the directions exactly, the damned thing came off at some point. Anyway, my wife said "I'll just pay the $50 a year for the windshield sticker so I don't have to worry about the front plate falling off."

Tesla should REALLY have at least attachment places for aftermarket plate holders...
