Not exactly the answer I was looking for. I had seen a posting where the reservation holder had shown his number and was asking for help in determining his production place,
I hope it's clear I wasn't serious. Personally, I don't share anything like that and I never used the spreadsheet to determine my place in line. Mostly because I don't think it's overly relevant. Tesla never said they would fill orders in order of pre-order. A LOT of orders will drop out because people can't pay for it or finance it, they are in Europe, etc, etc.

That said, most on here share the Res # and I doubt anyone could actually do anything sinister with it.

What would be the point of having reservations if they didn't fulfill them in vague order they were placed?

To us? Nothing. To them? Gauge interest and build hype in the product.

But if people knew they didn't fill in order of reservation number, there'd be no urgency to get a reservation, and so the numbers would be all wrong.

So they have a vested interest in sticking with the numbers when they can.

Yeah, I dunno. They don't strictly follow numbers with their other models. With one of them - I think the 3? - they took the first few and then after a few months sent everyone an email saying complete your order. And that was with $1000 down. They might go number by number, I'm not arguing here. I'm just not obsessing about order number because I think they will care more about the order in which people get their financing approved, etc. Gonna be a lotta trash orders in there at only $100.

Tesla will absolutely fulfill reservations in order.

...after they fill all the Austin orders, of course
well sure we all know they are filling in order.. but how they are making the order is a question for a lotta people.. most assume by number.. some by order of location/configuration/employer etc...
8)

even if they just did a lottery and picked at random that wold be an order.. laughs in the order drawn

One can hope that lots of reservation holders decide to drop out. There is virtually no scenario where my CT gets made/delivered in less than a year from now. That said, I am just trying to survive (psychologically) until the release candidates come out. Three months, right?

They sent out the emails in order, and eventually opened to the remainder. If you didn't respond and configure within a couple weeks, how long is Tesla supposed to wait to fill their order queue?

Is it safe to show my reservation number when asking a question about my potential place in line? (Day #2 reservation)
I'll break darned if I can figure out the spreadsheet for determining my place.
No reason to be specific. Just round the last 3 digits. I don’t think showing them is any kind of security issue either… just too lazy to search what the last 3 digits are.
