Wait, you saw *two* vehicles in Nov 2019?

Best of my knowledge, nobody has ever identified a second OG/Concept unit. As hand built units there would almost HAVE to be some differences. How confident are you about this?

The second (maybe clay?) unit has been widely reported by people that were at the unveiling. I was not.
There were not two functional units at unveiling.

There was the one functional unit whose window was smashed.

Then after the presentation was done, they rolled out a non-functioning maquette (not made of steel) for attendees to walk-around and take pictures of.

As the earlier poster said.

There are videos from attendees of the unveiling showing and describing this - folks can search it up.

But here are photos of the maquette (note the odd surface quality of the vehicle, as well as the lack of transparent windows - or broken windows)

but after almost 4 years since the unveiling there has never been anything said or published by Tesla that the Cybertruck would be anything but 3mm stainless.
Yes and maybe more to the point: there has been a LOT said about why the Cybertruck will NOT be painted (cost savings and environmental impact reasons) - it's half the story of the CT's unusual construction

Munro says paint booths caust $1.3Billion to construct, and don't get any cheaper to operate thereafter

Did everyone missed seeing the rear wheel steer? Go back and check it out. This is one of the best feature included with the CT. I am excited. Camo is nice.

Most people are surprised to learn that jet fuel is basically kerosene. Today, kerosene is now the most common type of fuel used in airplanes.

Hi Rick,
I got invited to the Cybertruck unveiling because I had racked up the required number of referrals in the previous referral program. I forget, was it 4 or 5? Something like that. We got there early, were near the front of the line, and when they opened the doors to the Hawthorne design center, we crushed in with the crowd and immediately went right up to the front of the stage just to the right of center. Other people were distracted with restrooms, finding their friends, grabbing drinks off the trays of the wandering waitstaff, etc. We treated it like a GA concert and went right to the front...

So cool.

Contingency plan for a stunt that involved throwing shit at your protoype?
Exactly. They even had spare wheels with tires and a spare door visible in shots from the back stage. And footage of Franz doing it and not breaking the window, not to mention the bouncing ball demo stand on the stage.

Plan for what might go wrong.

I just love that In n Out is the preferred nutrition stop of the CT project. Maybe there will be a CT burger on the secret menu.

(My fave In n Out secret item is the grilled cheese with peppers, sometimes animal style, yep, no burger).
Mine's a doubledouble extra lettuce extra tomato, fries, strawberry shake, Dr Pepper. 'Cause if you're gonna have it, have everything.

Which suggests either there are changes they are trying to hide, or they just did it to troll us.

With Tesla… either is possible.
Or a pun.

"That's a wrap!"

I believe, like they did with the Model Y right before it's official unveiling and had the "Not Model Y" wrap, this is a tongue in cheek way of Tesla conforming to the practice of using Camo prior to unveilings. Normal camo treatment for prototypes uses built-in shaping and varying pattern to change your perception of the shape of the actual vehicle. It's obvious the Cybertruck looks like the Cybertruck.

If Tesla wants to cover something, they'll cover it, like the bra on the Highland Model 3.

Tesla hired a paint specialist for the Cybertruck, my guess is that they will offer a select set of wraps for CT. It's a high margin item that Tesla can profit as paint is expensive.
As much as I love the idea, think it probably won't happen. 200 or 300 million on Tesla scale may not be that much.

Space and time may be better allocated to higher profit product.

But why give it away if they can do it with minimal impact? It is a slim chance.

Offering a wrap could make it more appealing to more people.
