But where was it made? Elon in a Cybertruck isn’t news. Anyone in a GigaAustin-made Cybertruck is huge news.
That was my primary reasoning behind thinking it must have been built at GigaAustin.
So you know that this truck was still hand built? What happened to that prediction that the line would be operational early in July? Perhaps Elon was excited to drive the Cybertruck because it was actually driving well enough to drive around normally and not just as a publicity stunt…
@Jhodgesatmb - I’ve only now realized that several of my earlier posts in this thread on the below topic/photos were deleted (for unknown reasons), which means my comment above wouldn’t make sense to youElon’s just not as excited about the CyberTruck as he is about the Model 3, so he just failed to mention he was driving a RC around Austin /s
That, or what the sum of all the posts in this thread makes clear
long story short: this unit on Friday is the same one from Petersen two weeks ago, Cyber Roundup before that, Lithium refinery before that… an old Beta
Thought it generally worth reposting collectively (and crossing fingers it doesn’t get deleted again?):
Here’s Elon’s truck in Austin this past Friday, and the blemish on its driver’s front , and the three Velcro tabs across cab peak
Franz’s truck at Petersen Cars & Coffee two weeks ago had the same velcro tabs, and same blemish on driver’s front :
Here’s the same front flare from the unit out front of GFTX at Cyber Roundup, same Velcro tabs:
Before Cyber Roundup, this was the same unit with the rack at the refinery event and the cornfield. The blemish wasn’t on the fender at the official refinery event, and I suspect the blemish was from the mudding etc after the event (the Roundup unit was a mess underneath - and makes sense they kept it around between refinery and roundup event).
but the same unit at refinery event did have the Velcro, and in fact the rack itself may explain the Velcro? Given how they rack lips over the glass I could se them using the Velcro on the sides to protect the glass from scratching. Doesn’t explain the center Velcro tab, exactly
