Well ain't than dandy!

Looks like they only have pretty dainty mounting brackets, and nothing much to connect it to the rear cast either, so unlikely to carry much load by the looks of it. Now if someone could flip it over so we could see the back please.

I woulnd't say those danty.

The four smaller ones are probably for covers.

If the attachment mechanism between those brackets and the exterior exo panel is adhesive and runs the nearly full planner, the you can definitely achieve great load transfer.

The rear quarter panels are in the crush zone. 3mm thick? Possibly if they are scored on the underside to fold like an accordion upon impact.

You can't gauge metal thickness from a photo taken many feet away from the subject.

I hope the glass is that thick. My eyecrometer says the sheet metal is 1/3rd the thickness of the glass. That would make the metal 1.8mm. I hope my eyecrometer isn't too far off. :)
EDIT: Changed the Model Y to laminated.

Lord knows I've heard enough about the glass you cant shatter, which means it should be laminated.

Comment a ways down the page says unverified info says 4mm for Tesla tempered and 6mm for the Model Y laminated....

The exoskeleton concept changed the day using massive casting was announced. But if anyone doesn’t think a solid piece of stainless steel sheet that size,, 1 or 3 mm , does become a significant structural member, if it is called exoskeleton or not, doesn’t have a clue.

I am encouraged by these pieces lying separate from a greater quantity. Would've been nice if one of them was turned over to see what's on the inner side.

I guess this does confirm no sail pillar storage, unless these are already outdated parts which I doubt. Earlier pictures of the rear castings also suggested to me that sail pillar storage wasn't likely, but I know some were hoping.

Serious tho... How would you be able to tell from that image?

Well, I could make a comment about taking known dimensions and breaking them down by pixel to deduce panel thickness. OR I could admit that was a touch sarcastic. You pick.

There's a crack in the concrete floor. Without verified scale of objects for reference one can't be sure, but it seems to be between 0.2mm to 1.0mm in width or slightly more (Couldn't Resist) ? :

Many possible causes especially during rushed construction at a site, but likely additional curing time would've helped to to sustain concentrated loads without cracking. Or, control joint spacing is possibly a factor, in which case the curing itself may have caused the crack.
It's probably one of likely very many with all things considered, but thin cracks like that usually do not cause further issues if floor is well maintained otherwise.

I do recall reading the actual thickness is a tad under 3 mm.

Hard to live in denial any longer. The coolest thing about the Cybertruck is not a thing. Reality sucks.

It used to be an ugly truck for a good reason, now it's just ugly.

I guess if the dual motor price is close to the original price and it has rear wheel steering, I'll still get it.

In reality, rear wheel steering is more useful than light armor. Those panels make me sad though.

And this is based upon what, exactly?

You're leaving out a lot on the Cybertruck. You sound like you know as much about the Cybertruck as Scotty Kilmer does. You know you don't have to buy it. If you're trying to convince yourself not to, you don't need to tell us.

But if you're trying to negatively influence others with shallow remarks and no examples, you're likely not going to resonate with many people here at all.
