does you S weigh 7,000 pounds, and ride 35"x11" tires?
What does that have to do with whether or not an all weather tires will be one of the options.

Because your comment popped up amongst a discussion about range effects on tire options, I took your comment…

Over 30000 miles our S averaged 342 w per mile on the original street tires. It was horrible in snow. We switched to all weather tires. after 20000 miles average 353 w per mile. The car is great in snow. I don’t need an all terrain tire but I do hope an all weather tire is an option.
… to have also been about that

my bad if miss-interpreted

I know tires make a difference in range. I hope an all weather tire doesn’t affect range as much as an all terrain tire. Do you know if the truck will be offered with an all weather tire.

we’ve only seen the Goodyear and the Pirelli

the Pirelli are the Scorpion ATR hybrid on / off road tire, ELECT

challenge with CT tires is finding the intersection of a 35” tire that is both weight rated and speed rated sufficiently for the truck

Goodyear and Pirelli had to specially make them

Two possibly ways to have a 500+ mile version.
A) have a massive, massive battery. Rivian's 400 mile version has a battery size of 149.0 kWh
If you want to get to 500 miles, maybe you have to go up to 175/180 kWh? For comparison, the Model X has a 100 kWh battery.
B) wait for a step change in battery tech. Which maybe 5+ years away?

A massive battery would probably be pretty dang expensive, so the price would have to go up.
Or do it with Lucid's approach: highly efficient components like the motos, inverters, and battery architecture. The range achieved with the Lucid Air and battery size is impressive. If Lucid achieves stated metrics for the Gravity, that' would be a huge industry benchmark. Details from the launch event 11/16

Lucid achieved slightly higher motor and inverter efficiency in their Long-Range model by seperating their Performance and Long-Range models. It's not really economical for the small benefit they recieve but they were desperate to create the appearance that they had "one upped" Tesla. This is one reason of many why they lose six figures on every car they sell. They are just licking their wounds and biding time now.

The truth is, there is very little range to be gained from improving the efficiency of motors and inverters. Lucid has a bigger battery than they are letting on in order to pretend like they have some magic sauce. I think most people see right through it.

Do you mean the 138kWh for 520mi?

With a Cd of 0.197? 5,200lb curb weight? And an MSRP of $138K?

I’m sure Tesla could build a “truck” with 500mi range, but doubt it would look, perform, and - maybe most of all - cost the way anyone wants.

This is the approx 112 kWh (usable) battery. Specs from Lucid.com
Yes, its a lot more money than a Model X plus a Model Y; I can buy both Teslas in Colorado for around $105k after tax credits. But the range is appealing. Two weeks to Cybertruck specs!

100% agree with this!
Lucid needs to see the big picture: more EVs = more choices and faster adoption and phase-out of liquid-fuel vehicles.

Let’s say 112kwH gets 516mi on standard 19” wheels.

The 21” wheels drops EPA range to 469mi - a 10% drop

Increase other things, like the tire size and width of tires, the weight, the Cd to say ~0.32, and real quick that same 112kwh starts to look a lot more like mid-300s range…

To me it seems Tesla pretty good at for every 50kwh battery size you get about 200 miles of range. For 500 mile range they need around 125 kwh pack...My estimate of 130-140kwh seems plausible. I think they can definitely squeeze 320miles out of a 100 kwh pack in dual motor np. 500 mile could be 150 kwh but that is prob max. Nothing over 150kwh is needed.

Tesla is “pretty good at that” when they’re making 4,000lb sedans, with 0.2 Cd, on 27”x9” tires.

Except for that all-important detail, all your math is roughly correct

It’s just that the all-important part means that a 125kWh pack (usable) doesn’t get 500mi, it gets ~350mi

This is a 6,900lb truck with a ~0.32 CD on 35”x11.5” tires - every pound and inch subject to physics

Range of 500 miles with a 172 KWh pack, would require an efficient energy consumption rate of 344 Wh/mi (Watt-hours per Mile). I've been speculating a little bit more energy per mile for the weights we're now seeing for Cybertruck, but we'll see. Wonder what the largest pack available in the Cybertruck will be?

The F-150 lightning gets 2miles/kwh, or 500wh/mile. Cybertruck should be in that range as it is the same size, probably a little better.

500 miles of range at 500wh/mile would require a 250kwh battery pack

Rivian R1T epa reports 480wh/mile at that rate it would need a 240kwh battery pack

That sounds more realistic. I noted a similar energy consumption possibility of around 500 Wh/mi when extrapolating based on the weight and efficiency of a Model 3 Performance, near the bottom of my recent post in a similar thread discussing range:
