Will the top notch fit and finish still be a priority when mass production begins? I understand all of the CT’s built to date have been hand built.

By that definition, all Cybertrucks built ever will be hand built.

They would have already switched to using more and more automation, but there's no clear delineation visible from the outside.

The ones we are seeing now coming out of the factory should be from their line with automation. How much? Who knows?

Now THAT truck is set on high (at least)

And yes, in high it appears very large.
I think that’s why they did it. I think the tire size looks a little small for that high of a lift.

well, you wont really be able to cruise around in that height, unless you’re in offroad mode

so it’s not a regular posture/appearance of the truck

Definitely the most common reaction (including me) was the size of it. It just looks so massive.
Huh, to me, it looks so compact!
It's both.

On high suspension It's big because it has huge clearance underneath that you don't really take notice of, and only see the top body. Then with the suspension down it looks compact, because that clearance volume is missing and you look down on it.

The reality is that they needed to make it more compact to get range with limited pack size.

With aero there are two ways to reduce drag 1) you make the shape more slippery and 2) you reduce the frontal cross section area.

Number 2) is why it's actually quite compact in height and width, as this results in less aerodynamic drag. The length only plays a minor roll, and in fact can help if it is raked down to the back to reduce the Cd.

Note also how the sidewalls are curved and bulge out around the passenger compartment where you want max shoulder width.

maybe help draw all that out compared to the Lightning ER

essentially identical range

Lightning has 131kW usable pack, for 320 ~real miles

If CT has say ~115kW usable pack at say 350 *Tesla* miles, I’d say the the range is near identical, and the Cd difference comes down to the ~16kW delta in pack size

but the Ford is 0.56 CD!

will be interesting to see how these figures play out in detail ?

Huh. You sure the Lightning has such a high Cd? I though it was mid 0.35?

I'm pretty sure it has less frontal area though...might be time for a frontal area comparison thread?

you think the Lightning has less frontal area??

0.56 is the only value I can find online, which is both as hood and bad a source as for any other

Tesla Cybertruck Finally got to see the Cybertruck Unicorn in person after 4yrs... it's so badass and appears much larger 04CC9A39-C768-424D-9EA5-1A93C244E916

not sure, as I also see the 0.56 elsewhere attributed to the Raptor, by one of those folks who did rough modeling of the CT vs, early on

Car & Driver has an article that proclaims the Lightning Cd is 4% better than a standard F150

Everything else online are companies that sell ‘aerodynamic’ bed covers, etc, just claiming to make ace better

I see no way it’s in the 0.3Xs, but wouldn’t be surprised if it’s not in the 5s

In any event, the F150 is Certainly less slippery than the CT, and the vertical surface area is way taller - like 9”+

It just looks massive. I haven’t had the F-150 for several years, but recently sold my Cayenne diesel and I’d consider that a semi large SUV. The Cybertruck just looked huge to me.
From an earlier post, it very well could just be that the suspension was set to high and made it seem larger.
