At Tesla Buena Park now. It is a big vehicle. A couple observations. The stainless definitely has a light brushed finish. It is not a mill finish. Those front shocks are huge. Like 8” to 10” diameter
those are shields on the air bags?

He's not gonna let you drive his truck lol

@greggertruck for someone who is relatively new to the forum though. I will say you have proven to be slightly more obsessed than me. Lol

I know, I was summarizing the whole assembly as a shock. Anyway, the shock was one of the things that felt much larger in person. Also, the wheel wells felt really tight. The front wheel hub upper joint seemed like it was actually sitting above the front wheel. If my truck has 6” of clearance between the inside of the wheel and the well, the CT feels like it has 3”. Not that it’s a bad thing, it just feels surprisingly consolidated.

I agree, it’s a shield on the airbag, but I really can’t stress enough how large it seemed. Like a small basketball in diameter. I have replaced my own coil overs and the CT shock seemed twice the size. I am sure it’s necessary due to the weight and airbags typically are wider

It really does ?
I third that. incredible build quality. If the interior fit and finish matches the exterior, we really have a winner here. I know the EV world seems to be getting a lot of attention for seeing a dip in sales (but i believe it probably matches the broader economy and is being specifically negatively targeted because many union EV makers are falling behind) and i think the CT is going to make Tesla sales to a new increased exponential limit.

Now THAT truck is set on high (at least)

And yes, in high it appears very large.
I do a lot of building and carpentry and its really interesting to me how shapes drive perception. like the vertical vs horizontal lines on a shirt can make a person look taller vs. fatter. Rounded edges tend to confuse our ability to scale things in a sort of infinity edge effect, but sharp edges really define aspects such as proportion and size. I have told people that one of the amazing things about the CT design is how they nailed the rigid proportions. You go too extreme with angles or complexity of the overall shape and it looks to odd. If you think about a normal truck in profile it has 8 major planes. The CT has 5. It really is a thing of beauty. I think all the haters are going to be quickly shut down when it becomes the best selling vehicle in the US.

I think when people actually see it in front of them, they’re going to be pleasantly surprised.
I surely am, and I can’t wait until my number is up.

I think a lot of the pressure on EV sales is due to other manufacturers not being able to keep prices competitive. EVs are more expensive and with interest rates high and the economy globally facing challenges, that’s not good for the priciest of EVs. Many manufacturers got blinded by the sudden boom in premium EVs and invested into that space in the market, but were caught off guard by the economy and also by Tesla’s ability to come down rapidly in price.

This is why I think it’s essential the Cybertruck keeps prices competitive.
