Thinking about this more, if they are planning to open the Foundation deliveries to other states, why wouldn’t they queue them now and hold the additional deposits.

Has anyone confirmed that the 1000 limited editions will only be sold to these states? (Not sure how this has operated in the past)

technically, the order info says *delivering* in CA and Texas in 2023

meanwhile, all but two offers/orders reported here have been in TX and CA, with est delivery of 12/23 to 3/24 for AWD, and ‘in 2024’ for cyberbeast

these differences between AWD and tri make sense to extent they’re so far building very few Cyberbeast, relative to AWD

The two exceptions of offers in other states were FL and NV, but it’s always possible these were glitches in the automation (or these folk’s profile data), or for some reason Tesla is making a couple of exceptions

all that said, you’re right that even if they intend to start in CA and TX and later expand, it wouldn’t stop them from opening orders elsewhere

except that bc there are limited Foundation units, it wouldn’t quite make sense to open orders they intend to deliver first to places they don’t intend to deliver first

I did not receive any notification but on my account it shows I can order a "drink the cool aid" Foundation Series for another 20k. bwahhahaha. Nope. It went from 49k to 79k and you want another 20k and you are the richest person in the world? Bwahahahahahah. Sorry, I think I'll wait.

What’s interesting is that the Reno, NV order is almost 50,000 past mine and I’m in Reno as well.

yes

just think of this like a Monroney window sticker

included in the MSRP is the not only the base price (ie the AWD price), but also separate entires for all options or options packages

this Foundation “option” is a special edition
option package

like a Ford Lightning Pro has an option package to add the ER battery and the things that come with it

5CF0C4B3-6AEE-44E7-B791-7CB1C74E1DAB.jpeg

The items within the package aren’t separately optioned or separately priced, that you can cherry pick to back out (if any could be backed out)

Meanwhile and separately, I’m now convinced (until Tesla clarifies explicitly to the contrary) that there is not paid-up FSD built into the price of the Foundation trims

Trim comes with base AP. It’s capable of accepting FAD later (when it’s available) if you purchase FSD (once it’s available)
With all the excitement I held onto a shred of hope but that’s a very realistic take on it and I appreciate the insight. Guess that frees up two spots for y’all.

for what it’s worth, a moment after posting that I searched up other Tesla order agreements and have stricken the lost language about paid up FSD not being included in the package cost - now believe it is

Not quite sure how folks value FSD, since some suggest the way to go is turn on/off the subscription option instead if used only occasionally.

Then presumably some people getting who pre-ordered FSD in 2019 were locked in for $7K, while I’m sure Tesla’s pricing assumes it’s full price of $12K in the package. So arguably, when it comes to FSD, ironically the people who expressed interest in FSD in 2019 are paying more for Foundation that the folks who didn’t.

would have been a boss move if Tesla instead offered folks who had locked in $7K FSD the Foundation package at $15K instead of $20K

but, suppose gotta pay to be first!

the Reno one I might understand I so far as it’s geographically twice as close to Fremont as say San Diego.

Still, it’s odd.

But FL?!

Hope that poster sheds more light on it

first thought as well

but you’d think if Tesla really meant it, they’d ask to confirm location now at order

??‍♂

Agree! Wondering how many recipients no longer have active addresses in those states. I was wondering about using my friend’s address, but planning to finance (vs cash) and don’t know what repercussions I could be limited by financially.

Yes that is the question. What is on that sticker and only Tesla knows and only Tesla can tell the IRS what the MSRP of a Foundation AWD model is. So far the only items that I know of that are physically attached would be the cyber wheels and 35” tires as well as the white accents. The power share equipment wouldn’t count nor does FSD. Question is are those wheels and tires included in the MSRP or are they in the Foundation package and therefore none will qualify for the tax credit.

Since I’m in Utah I probably won’t have to worry about this. However it would be nice to have clarification for those that do.

you’re just sticking to a bad assumption

long as you’re stuck, no talking around it

which might be more reasonable if we weren’t talking about a $10.00 delta

Maybe they’re running your credit before sending an invite ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
