Seems suspicious that out of the dozens of trucks in SHOWrooms that they are all roped off.
Preparing to drop $130k on a vehicle but you can't open/close the doors or look in the bed.........seems reasonable?

I plan on staying with the stainless steel. I wonder how the Cybertruck will look when coming out of the other side of an automated car wash (Quick Quack).

For finger prints that need to be taken care off, I was planning on using Weiman Stainless Steel Cleaner & Polish.

Thoughts?

LOL, that was exactly my point when rep. at Denver showroom told me it is delivery unit. When I mentioned lack of "Founders" logo, the guy had no idea what Im talking about ?
I think they dont know what those units are, most likely they dont want to deal with interior/exterior detailing.

There are folks who are day 1 or 2 CT reservation holders who were certainly disappointed at the specs and pricing of the final CT. $30K price bump and only 65% of the claimed range is a huge miss by Tesla in my opinion

I won’t qualify for the EV tax credit in 2024 and still think the value proposition has certainly dropped for the CT. I like some of the features, but it can’t replace my Jeep Rubicon related to off-roading (no brainer), but I doubt it can tow my off-road trailer as far as my Jeep. I am still holding My reservation to see it in person and compare directly to the competition before making a final decision.
@ElectricSheep you are not from THAT group. THAT people never heard of CT until Twitter takeover, havent reserved one, know nothing about it, nor care about it.

I hear you and all your concerns about specs. I should note that all off-roading stuff was a huge news for me! Didnt know about it, dont care about it. I dont think it is fair to compare Jeep purpose built for off-roading with utility truck.
I do appreciate the point about towing ( again learned about this whole towing stuff from this forum) and I hear disappointment.
So I guess you gonna keep your Jeep as a toy and CT for daily kids logistics and Costco runs like everybody else :)

They are actual customer cars.
not the case

EDIT: just saw you said this unit you’re referring to had the engraved Foundation markings on the side. In that case, it could be true it’s a unit to be delivered.

What aren’t for customers are the initial 20 demo units in showrooms, which aren’t Foundation units

all that said:

if they’re now also holding foundation units in showrooms instead of delivering them, it goes in my bucket of reasons that Tesla is still gaming their financials by not selling or delivering units to non-employees/influencers until Q1 2024

The panel gap comments and the fingerprint paranoids are just an extension of the THAT group. Tesla Haters, Antagonists, and Tall tales. THAT group likes the status quo. THAT group likes the OG OEMs. THAT group wants us all to stay with the ICE vehicles because they are rounded for pedestrian safety, have unlimited range, never catch fire, make their tires last longer, have “normal” wiper blades, can tow millions of tons, never get into accidents, etc. THAT group likes to short TSLA. THAT group wants to limit the output of BEVs because they are “too fast” and should be more like everything else out there. THAT group has their panties in a wad because the AWD dual motor doesn’t have 500+ miles of range like they promised, or a laser wiper blade, or because they don’t have 3mm SS any longer, or… THAT group wants you to believe they “missed the target” with the CT, and that Elon is too busy and his focus is too divided to run a company.

Don’t be a member of THAT group. Just say no.
I think I'll want to touch the truck, sit down in the front and back seats, open the frunk and play with the bed cover, drive it thru around, and thoroughly leave fingerprints all over before deciding to buy it.

Don't be a member of any group that says otherwise.

Why not? I just put $1000 (non-refundable) down on a purchase of a Cybertruck I've never even seen except in photos and videos. I couldn't be happier about that.

We also bought our first Model 3 sight unseen. we still have it and have picked up two more since then. I bought our previous 3 ICE vehicles without sitting in them or test drives too.

When I get my CyberTruck I'm gonna pop a huge bowl of popcorn and spend the next hour eating popcorn and touching every square inch of my new truck. I think with a uniform coating of fingerprints they will all disappear from view.

I think I'm going to just tell people to leave their mark on my truck somewhere and make it a feature. After hundreds, it may be a work of art ?‍♂

If someone leaves their fingerprint, we can track them down and seek revenge.

When I was buying my first new car, the dealer was perplexed by my refusal to take a test drive. I knew that I lacked a frame of reference to evaluate its handling, since I’d driven nothing but POS shitboxes before hahahaha

EVERY Foundation series should come with a case of these: :)

In my case, I do a lot of research before buying a new vehicle. When I do this in an unbiased and attentive manner, and read driving reviews from multiple reviewers, I pretty much know what I'll be getting, there are no big surprises.

It's really odd the way some dealers try to insist that I drive the car even after I've narrowed the possible choices down to exactly what I want.

However, there are some vehicles that I can't get enough good information from reviewers and need to drive them myself. The Land Rover Defender 90 was one such vehicle that I'm glad I drove before deciding I didn't want it. It didn't inspire mechanical confidence. The VW Toureg was another.

Actually, the dealer made me take a test drive, which was uncomfortable as predicted. I bought it nevertheless and drove it for 25 years.
