So did you order a foundation series? If so look forward to seeing it on the road in PDX. I am too far down on the list to get an invite. Maybe next year when they (if they) become cheaper.
Yeah. I recently confirmed the cyberbeast version. I talked to the folks in the service center and they looked up my info to see if there is a VIN assigned yet or not or if they could dig up some info on delivery estimate. Nothing so far. They were saying I would get it around mid 24 since it is a cyberbeast version. The AHD version has an earlier delivery date in general. They were saying that oregon got about 20 CTs allocated for Q1 so far. All are probably AHD. Finding one in the next 6months would be difficult I think if all we get is 20 for Q1.

If I got delivered this Cybertruck, I could probably find all of these issues and I would only mention the one issue above the lightbar left of the tailgate. I would mention it because I believe that it is something that up close, anyone could notice at a first glance.

The rest, I don't think I would notice except in my initial inspection.

I remember finding the most hard to find dent I've ever seen on my model 3. That can only really be noticed by a certain low angle, near the bottom of the door, while shining a light on it. When I found it and showed my friend, I had to find it again, even though I knew it was there. He thought I should bring that up and ask for it to be corrected. It is still there and I only ever think about it when I'm looking for an example of something that could be fixed but I don't care enough to get it fixed.

I get that some people are the "if I know it's there, I'll always see it" type. and to those people, I wouldn't recommend Tesla. Really I wouldn't recommend any vehicle other than ones at a dealership that you can inspect it without placing an order. Sure you can decline delivery of a Tesla and i've heard people just go back in line for another, but I don't think you can do that too much before Tesla stops sending cars for you to maybe buy.

I feel like these issues (other than the one I mentioned) might get the standard "within spec" response.

I am one picky SOB when it comes to fit and finish. I instantly pick up on misaligned body panels, inconsistent panel gaps, paint flaws, misaligned trim, etc.

Please share what you find wrong with the fit and finish with this photo.

This one is probably at the sub-mm scale misaligned. It is not easily visible from the picture. If you stand in front of it, (i was about 3ft away) you can not ignore it.

Really bad panel-gaps suggest the underlying frame/body is not true. The doors won't close correctly, the seals don't contact the body accurately so you get whistles/leaks, etc. That's what happened during the Model 3 ramp, and it was bad.

But that's not what we're talking about here, is it? Those dramatic fitment issues are long resolved, and now it's solely about aesthetics.

For instance, the photo above showing the stainless trim that traverses the roofline is a strictly a cosmetic piece, with no functional load.

I recently visited the Portland Oregon store to see the CT in person. What a sight!!!
It was a foundation series in the service center. I tried to examine the exterior from a fit and finish perspective and here’s my thought and some pictures to go along with it.
1- I still saw >1mm misalignment. Not sure if this is very common or not. The previous RC versions had a lot of misalignment issues in multiple places. I thought that the ones given to customers would probably be flawless.
2- the tail gate to side of ct body panel area had a large gap>3mm and it was inconsistent.
3- the top triangular bend was extending out and was not in plane with the top glass corner.
4- all the edges are rough as confirmed by multiple reviews previously. I didn’t get to test it myself.
5- although, I didn’t see the interior but I presume it also will have quality issues.

i just want to know from all of you if you think this is a deal breaker if it remains like this and you pay >100k for this.

My wife gave her unbiased opinion and it seemed she would not buy it given it is a 120k. She felt it was built in somebody’s garage. I didn’t have that strong of an opinion since i am biased but i also couldn’t ignore the defects that i saw. When time comes, i will probably buy it but it certainly have raised some confusion in my mind.
At first i gravitated to the pictures on the post and immediately thought this was a post about how great the fit and finish is, then i went back and read and was surprised. I think the this unit looks really great.

I've owned more vehicles than i can count, from a luxurious 1994 Saturn SL1 to Corvettes, BMWs, VWs, Audis, Porsches, and I've never gotten out my gap or feeler gauge to check panel gaps. I'm sure if i did i could have found "fit and finish" issues on every single vehicle.

I've known and accompanied many friends who have purchased higher end vehicles including a couple exotics, and not once did any of them check panel gaps.

I suppose to each his own, but near zero % of people in the real world actually care about this, and especially not down to millimeters(or less), i am certain.

With such large straight lines it is tough to have it perfectly straight, have seen little bends and warps on different ones including this one I took a couple pics of the other day, these were general pics so forgive the low quality zoomed in image and background edit for owner's privacy, but you can see the side panel that goes up the side near the cover has some little waves in it.
No big deal in my opinion.
