This will probably be the first thing I'll remove as well!

I'm glad the removal is easy. I'm planning on doing this myself as well.

That little hexagonal indent that remains would actually make a really good spot for one of those aftermarket "SEXY" buttons that you can buy online. Obviously one made specifically for that space and in the same shape.

Program it to something you use often like opening/closing the cover, glovebox, all interior lights, the optional lightbar or whatever you put on the frunk feed.

You could even fit 2 buttons on a hexagonal design.
I have a security of the vehicle problem with the SEXY buttons makes it easier to break into your truck/car.

... spying on your rear passengers.
You make "eye contact with a rear passenger" sound nefarious. My work truck has camper shell that makes seeing traffic to the rear all but impossible. The only thing I use the rear view mirror for is holding conversations with rear passengers and it comes in handy enough that I'd never remove it.

Thanks! I've been thinking about doing this, but haven't made the time. This helps.

Hey this makes me think you have your CT already? In that case congrats!
I yam in Henderson too, pls LMK if you might ever be somewhere nearby and would not mind allowing an in-person looksee. Thanks.
I have a Beast configured but that means not for another half year or so, and have not yet seen a CT in person.

What about the garage door?
That would be a good use for it as well. I would probably go garage door / light bar (aftermarket).

If they have this kind of button ready for when I get my truck, I would probably make it go to extract height (if that can be one button programmable), because for the first few weeks when I show my truck off to friends, I want to show it off at the highest setting.

Confused about how that is the case. Can you explain how that easier break-in would work?
I think what he means is that you don't want a physical button/garage opener for someone to steal. I have Homelink open my garage and love it. No remote for a crook to steal.

I am curious about all the garage door opener comments. Surely CT has that feature in the UI. Or do folks just not like using the touchscreen for that.

it seems that there is no built in homelink, and as of now there is not a homelink accessory to purchase to add the functionality. The only built in garage door functionality is subscription and wifi based MyQ, which only works if you retrofit your garage doors, the servers are up, and your wifi reaches the garage door motor. This is particularly a problem for anyone with gate access and community garage doors/gates. Wifi won't reach a gate away from the house, and community garage doors can't be modified just because an auto manufacturer can't be bothered to offer a garage door opener as an option.

Myq requires a subscription

Wow. Hopefully just an update away. Both my wife and I really like the auto door opener feature on our 2018 Teslas as we approach the garage. Seems like a little thing but not having to fumble around for the button on the screen is really nice and I am annoyed to not have that on my Lightning.
