This thing is $100K. For that price, perfection is the expectation. I wish I was rich enough that I could accept a $100k car like I would accept a used $10k car.

If I remember video correctly from the 11/30 delivery day event the quarter panels were installed by a robot.

I believe they are installed to the Giga casting with strong structural adhesive. I'm not 100% positive, please respond if anyone knows for sure.

This will be my first Tesla
I wish this were my first Tesla all over again. I have little doubt that when your number comes up you are going to really love the experience. And I am sure Tesla will fix any issues if there are any on delivery. All the best on your delivery day!

I can already see this issue added to the “Cybertruck delivery checklist” that will start floating around the interweb:

17) tug on both rear quarter panels near the tail light to make sure they are secured to the giga casting.

Ok, it seems there is a lot of debate regarding the quarter panel gap photo I took yesterday. So I took a few more photos and measured the gap. In my own opinion, I can't really tell unless I put my face into it, I met another forum user today and he agrees that it doesn't look bad at all. I tried to move/push it in but there is zero movement. I was expecting this level of build quality when I submitted the order and honesty I probably won't even bother to get it fixed. However, the right turn signal really bugs me: 30% of the time it doesn't work, I had to click on a specific spot to turn it on. This would definitely be an issue I'll address with Tesla. With that being said, be your own judge at delivery and I surely hope CT's build quality improves over time.
BTW, just came back from the tint shop, tried the matte PPF film and it looks pretty good! Should I go for it?

What struck me from the original picture is that you could see what looked like mounting tabs behind the panel! This doesn't look as bad, but I would expect better than 1/8" (3 mm!!!!) gap there, or at least for it to be consistent along that line.

Can you imagine the crud that will build up in there?

Looking at it again, I think the panel itself if straight, it's the plastic tonneau time that deviates away to the right.

Thanks for all the posts and replays…enjoy the truck and everything will buff itself out. I don’t believe Tesla will leave you hanging if there’s a real fault. Enjoy and thanks again.

My money is on that. Especially after seeing that one picture of the sail area panel next to the tonneau trim. That is HORRIBLE, and I would never had accepted it if it's as bad as it looks.

A-??? No, that's a D in my book.
That one looked pretty bad i'll agree. But I would basically just want to get it in writing from the delivery people that my truck panels would be adjusted at a later date.

Just like when i got my model 3, I had the non-matrix headlights, I wanted the matrix headlights, it was an issue that some cars got them and some got the old ones. They provided me an email with an assurance that I would have them and they replaced them the next months when they had them in stock.

I can live with a panel gap for a while if it means I'm driving away with a Cybertruck.

Edit: owner already posted updated photos and it seems that the first photos were tricks of the camera. while I can still tell there is like the most minor misalignment, I'm with the owner, I wouldn't even bother getting this fixed if it's something I have to specifically look for and it's not something immediately noticeable while approaching

If you had taken a picture of a single ant walking on the truck, there'd be a huge thread on ant infestations at the Tesla factory.

There are just so many people who are waiting for any little thing. The YouTubers have to make money.

So many people, if they can't have something, resort to name calling.
