My CT was scheduled to arrive at Brownsville, TX on 2/1. I would be taking delivery today (2/3) I already paid and everything!

But it appears CTs are being held in waiting area, pending missing parts in Austin. ☹

No update on delivery date and system still says arriving on 2/1. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I'm supposed to take delivery in about five hours and just got a call telling me they found a problem with an interior door panel and they won't allow me to take delivery until it is replaced. Same situation where I've fully paid for the vehicle and they can't give me an ETA on when I can take delivery now. I asked for an exception since it doesn't sound like it's an issue that makes the truck not drivable, but if they deny that, I'm probably not going to be much fun to deal with.

If this "interior door panel" is a safety issue (such as an airbag) then they really can't release it.

Also, "corporate said so" is a pretty good reason too.

I understand not delivering due to a safety issue, but that was not how it was characterized by the person who called me. He made it sound more like a cosmetic defect. I told him I can understand if it’s a safety issue, but if it’s just cosmetic, I am okay with brining it back later for the panel to be replaced.

Tesla is normally willing to promise you whatever they need to in order to get you to take delivery of the vehicle now, and then whether they deliver those promises later is hit or miss (it was miss with my model Y). If they are telling you that they don't want to release a vehicle for some reason, that's pretty telling. Either they think if they send it out they will lose the leverage to get the replacement part from the factory, or it's a pretty big issue.

As disappointing as it is, I'd wait.

I again want to thank all the paying beta testing / early adopter customers for taking one for the team. I purposely waited 10 minutes in to the unveiling to place my preorder. I also delayed my $1000 deposit until early January. Hopefully in the next 6 months adequate beta testing and working out production details with Tesla's typical rush to market are mostly resolved. I'd still like my Cybertruck by summer but that may be too optimistic.

At this rate, i really doubt the Jan. orders can be delivered by end of the year!

Honestly, I don’t think you’ll avoid the early adoption if you put your $1000 down in January, my guy. Regardless of if you get it in the summer or not, the way this is rolling out I think you’re in early like the rest.

Actually he might be right, at least the hubcap aero cover issue now being addressed thanks the "extreme early adopter".

Possibly! I just wonder if there’s much of a difference between plunking down your $1000 in mid December versus January as it relates to working out the “bugs?”

that being said, your right about the aero cover being discovered early on.

Wonder what other fun little nuggets will present themselves here soon… 😂

I guess we’ll find out soon enough!

Cheers!

Mid-december now more and more seem like in summer, mid-jan. seem towards end of the year. Tbh, i am a little disappointed since majority of 20k "foundation" value was towarding the "time premium". The late you get the vehicle, the less value you get it from it.

Very True. The extra $20k and dealing with early issues is par for the course, but it does make it frustrating when you see delays. Such is life I guess.
