FSD just got $4k discount. I take delivery on Friday. Any possibility of us seeing that $4k?

Just saw that on X.

Yes, what now??

Part of the “CT FS Calculus” was that FSD was $12k of the $20k up-charge.

I’m still waiting on a VIN. Very curious to see how Tesla handles this.
Just another reason to wait for non-FS pricing.

The analysis by @Bkb13 had $7K for the FSD. According to his analysis, FS is worth about $15k.

The biggest component missing from that analysis is the worth of the CT as a power back up. CT has 123Kwh and the going rate for battery-powered backups is (generously) 15Kwh for $10K. More conservatively, I could compare that to the cost of a gas generator and associated installation costs. Even if I did that, it’s going to push me over the $20K value. The 5 days of whole house back-up is the main reason I keep coming back to proceeding with the FS deal.

I like this analysis. It’s probably understating the up charge that larger wheels/tires are going to be (I expect the stock ones to be pretty cheesy… which is fine for anyone who wanted to put on aftermarket off-road ones anyway).

It also doesn’t account for an assumed software up charge for pawershare backup. My guess is that will be extra or a sub.

so in all, it seems the FS “extra price” is around $5k

That’s right, unless you want to include what it would take to buy the batteries (powerwall) needed for 123Kwh. Each 13Kwh Powerwall is about $10K!

exactly. If you put it that way, it’s a giant power wall at MSRP that comes with a free truck. But really we need to compare it to whatever the Tesla up charge or fee is going to be for backup.

it has to be something or it will cannibalize their powerwall business.

wonder if that’s the missing link that makes FS worth it on paper vs non-FS (taking out owning something cool before anyone else)

What’s crazier they got rid of EAP @ 6k does that mean all that is now included in new cars?

New Tesla buyers are simply not checking off the FSD option when ordering. Very few buyers are biting at $12k.

I predict Tesla will eventually honor the $4k discount for Cybertruck buyers. This could turn into PR nightmare if they continue to be greedy.

That’s a really good point. There is HW ( one time ) and SW ( recurring ) they can play with. Maybe when Tesla reveals all that, the FS owners will be patting themselves on the back. Much like when free supercharging went bye-bye?

0% chance they lower the foundation series price due to this. You are paying for the whole package, not line items. There are still plenty of people waiting to pay the full 20K to get their trucks now. Also, as FSD continues to improve, and eventually becomes level 3 or 4 autonomy, the price will increase. So, whatever the value is in the foundation package will look like a bargain long term.

possibly. No way of really knowing what the price of that is going to end up being to determine value.

still, FSD going down by $4000 today does reduce the relative value of the foundation series by $4000 vs yesterday

I predict this will be a PR headache if Tesla doesn’t honor the price cut. The liberal news media will jump all over this.

With FSD 12.x, to use EAP, you have to (while parked) disable FSD to enable EAP.

With the FSD price cut to $8k, EAP goes away as an offering.

FSD price cut 50% to $6k should have occurred.

I guess the ‘price optimization’ is also happening here with the software options

I always felt some of the EAP features should already be part of AP

…my 2018 i3 base model was able to park itself, kinda, altho I never really used it.

I love the summons for maneuvering out of tight spaces. ?

summons to target however, meh… FSD doesn’t work as proclaimed with some key flaws. Why would I risk not even being in the vehicle and trying this??? (The answer to this is because Tesla needs us crash-test-dummys to help develop the system with minimal cost to them. if anything, our failure in the field could mean another unit and/or parts sold for Tesla… think about it)

IMO FS is an early tax with free perks.

We made the makeup calcs on our own.

I’ll reach out to the delivery specialist tomorrow and ask questions about it. Curious to get y’all’s thoughts.

Tesla never offers retroactive rebates. I know many that have bought Teslas only to have prices drop shortly after. No rebates.
