FSD just got $4k discount. I take delivery on Friday. Any possibility of us seeing that $4k?

Just saw that on X.

Yes, what now??

Part of the “CT FS Calculus” was that FSD was $12k of the $20k up-charge.

I’m still waiting on a VIN. Very curious to see how Tesla handles this.
That was your own fantasy. Everyone that reserved early was quoted FSD at $7,000 (going rate at the time), so the calculus should have been FSD at $7,000. That is still better than $8,000.

No, we will pay the $4,000 more for software that isn’t even in our trucks, and might not be until 2025. Cybertruck doesn’t even have basic AP
You have said this enough times that I even associate the claim with you. Isn’t it time to but that to bed? It will come eventually.

New Tesla buyers are simply not checking off the FSD option when ordering. Very few buyers are biting at $12k.

I predict Tesla will eventually honor the $4k discount for Cybertruck buyers. This could turn into PR nightmare if they continue to be greedy.
They really should throw us another bone. Something cool that doesn't cost them much to keep the early adopters spreading good Cybervibes. I don't think that extra rivet is gonna cut it. ?

I am just excited for my cybertruck as everyone else but the fact they allowed people to skip the line via referral codes, stocks, and now reducing the price of FSD is making me really reconsider this whole cybertruck purchase. They should be making me even more exited.

Although it would be nice, I do not think that they will do anything of the sort, and I am certainly not going to lose any sleep over it happening or not. I decided to buy the AWD FS and have accepted the pricing and that is that. As long as they give me everything that comes with the AWD FS and everything is in good working order I am fine. I do look forward to the upper light bar being offered in the store as an accessory at some point.

What this pricing change tells me is that between the lackluster improvements in FSD since they raised the prices they have not been getting the take rates they wanted, and thus the data they wanted. Maybe the goal here is to get more adopters and more data. Elon keeps harping on the eventual value of FSD being $100K and frankly I never bought into that at all. If it keeps me mobile when I no longer trust my driving then it will be worth it. Right now it is definitely not nearly as good a driver as I am no matter what the YouTubers say.

At the beginning the 20k Foundation Series was worth almost exactly $20,000 so while it was mandatory, at least you were getting something for your money. Then, after realizing the crazy high prices Tesla installers charge to install the Powershare and charger and opting out of that the $20,000 value dropped by $1,700 due to only getting a $700 credit instead of $2,400 worth of products (Powershare - $1,800, wall charger - $600). While I was not happy with this I was going to just eat it. NOW the value drops another $4,000 due to the price drop of FSD which totals $5,700 (give or take). I'll be honest, I'm seriously considering just letting them keep my $1,000 and walking away. I was already not happy with no Autopilot or FSD (even though they are forcing you to buy it) and now I'll take an immediate hit of $5,700 the second I sign the papers not to mention the normal decrease in value a new car takes. I have my VIN but no delivery date yet so I have at least another week or two before I have to decide. I hope Tesla does the right thing and lowers the Foundation Series Package by $4,000 for anyone that hasn't taken delivery yet. If they don't, and do not make any other attempt to compensate new buyers I feel like I may have to walk away....... Or maybe I won't, I'm really not sure yet. It sure doesn't feel good to see the price drop though. :-/

I have to agree here we’ve been waiting 4 1/2 years and we’re paying 20 K up charge for something that doesn’t cost as much going forward ……. Yeah, let’s get 2k in options…

Go look on autotrader for Cybertruck and tell me they lose their value in the way you’re describing.

Wonder how many people waiting on delivery and who were on the edge of whether FS was worth it just skip delivery now and move back in line. FSD included was part of my justification for the FS price. I did lock in FSD at the time of reservation.
I'm supposed to get mine delivered in early May and am strongly considering this. Just another kick in the shin to long time supporters.

If Tesla is reading this thread, y’all should really think about adding your extended warranty package to the foundation series. This would add value that you just took away with the $4000 reduction and FSD. This extended warranty could be easily added to existing foundation series owners.

The analysis by @Bkb13 had $7K for the FSD. According to his analysis, FS is worth about $15k.

The biggest component missing from that analysis is the worth of the CT as a power back up. CT has 123Kwh and the going rate for battery-powered backups is (generously) 15Kwh for $10K. More conservatively, I could compare that to the cost of a gas generator and associated installation costs. Even if I did that, it’s going to push me over the $20K value. The 5 days of whole house back-up is the main reason I keep coming back to proceeding with the FS deal.

I like this table. The only flaw I see in it is that it assumes that premium connectivity will remain at its current monthly rate forever, and I fo not think that it will.
