I would agree with this - CT is going to be produced several years before a smaller version is made. That will be the mass production/sale item, just like the Y and 3 are compared to X and S.

The CT tech will move forward but not the vehicle as it is now.
Tesla has no plans on the table to produce a smaller Cybertruck. If and when they do, they will certainly keep making the full-sized Cybertruck because all the engineering and tooling will have been amortized.

Cybertruck sales will only grow from here. In many ways it's the best vehicle on the market. Only a few people understand that currently. Prices will slowly come down, sales will grow like gangbusters over the next 4 years. Tesla always plays the long game.

With a truck it's about torque, not so much horsepower. Maybe you've never towed a trailer over 10,000 lbs?

Witth an electric truck the extra torque and horsepower comes without the same kind of downside you would see if you put a 1000 hp engine in it. It would guzzle gas like no tomorrow, even when idling.

I get the feeling you are arguing just for the sake of arguing that Tesla sucks. I mean, people love the extra power of a Tesla compared to comparable gas vehicles, that's a large part of what drove them to the top of automotive sales with the Model Y. No other vehicle sells in higher numbers, not even a cheap Toyota. People pay for the extra power without the inefficiency that would cost in an ICE vehicle. Don't you enjoy driving?
I think you're the one who just likes to argue. I simplified the question for you in the second part to limit the context to Tesla alone, since clearly you have some issue with bias. To give you even more personal context, I reserved the triple motor originally because it was promised to tow 14k and have more range. Price wasn't a factor for me. When the vehicle was launched, not only turned out the range wasn't there, but even easier to get 14k tow rating wasn't there either. So with that Tesla lost me as a triple motor buyer and I went with the dual motor.

The torque/power curve comparison is pointless when you're marketing a utility vehicle that doesn't have the basic specs in the same ballpark. F150 can tow a mini excavator because it's rated for 13.5k and Cybertruck can't. Outside of the Internet truckers and Youtubers nobody really cares about the actual torque at the wheels of the Cybertruck if it can't do the job. I asked you what job can it do over the baseline ICE comparison and you couldn't answer. I asked you what job triple motor CT can do that dual motor can't and you couldn't answer. Or wouldn't. Who likes to argue again ?

It’s in their earnings report from yesterday
Can you show me where they directly said that though? I'm asking because I didn't see where they used such definitive language.

Yep all of that is opinion. There are in fact reports that that’s starting to show up in the numbers but totally debatable eye of the beholder who’s asking the question all of the stuff.
Almost all market predictions and trendsetting is pretty much reading tea-leaves lol. South Park had a great episode on the subject.

What's your best example?
Just one? . Here are some of the most striking examples:
1. “I used to be an alien” - Musk jokingly claimed on Twitter in 2016 that he was once an alien, fueling conspiracy theories about his eccentricity.
2. Simulation Theory - Musk believes there’s a “billion-to-one chance” that we are living in base reality, suggesting that life might be a simulation created by advanced civilizations.
3. “Am considering taking Tesla private at $420. Funding secured.” - This infamous 2018 tweet led to an SEC lawsuit, costing Musk $20 million and his Tesla chairman role for three years.
4. Calling a cave rescuer “pedo guy” - During the 2018 Thai cave rescue, Musk insulted a diver who criticized his proposed rescue submarine, sparking global backlash and a defamation lawsuit.
5. “Building a cyborg dragon” - Musk once randomly tweeted about building a cyborg dragon, leaving followers baffled.
6. AI as a dictator - He warned that artificial intelligence could become a “permanent dictator,” emphasizing its potential dangers.
7. Controversial Antisemitic Post - In 2023, Musk apologized for endorsing an antisemitic conspiracy theory, calling it “the worst and dumbest post I’ve ever done”
8. Racist comments about HBCU students: In 2024, Musk endorsed a tweet implying that Black students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) have lower IQs and shouldn’t become pilots. He falsely claimed such diversity initiatives compromised safety, sparking outrage from civil rights groups who labeled his remarks as “abhorrent and pathetic”
9. Elon Musk recently claimed on social media that President Trump asked SpaceX to rescue two astronauts, Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore, who he described as “stranded” on the International Space Station (ISS). Musk criticized the Biden administration, stating it was “terrible” they had left the astronauts in space for so long. However, NASA clarified that the astronauts were not stranded and had been scheduled to return via SpaceX’s Crew-9 mission as part of a pre-existing plan established months earlier

He has also faced significant criticism for actions and statements perceived as mean or harmful:
1. Firing Employees Who Criticized Him: Musk allegedly ordered the firing of eight SpaceX employees in 2022 after they wrote an open letter criticizing his behavior and the workplace culture, which they claimed was rife with sexual harassment and discrimination. The lawsuit accuses Musk of fostering a toxic environment and retaliating against those who spoke out.
2. Sexual Harassment Allegations: Musk has been accused of inappropriate behavior, including a settlement with a SpaceX flight attendant over claims of sexual misconduct. His social media posts, often sexually charged, were cited as contributing to a hostile work environment at SpaceX.
3. Mocking the SEC: Musk publicly ridiculed the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on multiple occasions, including dismissing settlement proposals related to securities violations. This behavior has been criticized as undermining regulatory authority.
4. Mass Firings at Twitter (X): After acquiring Twitter in 2022, Musk laid off thousands of employees, including those who had criticized him or raised concerns about workplace issues. This move was seen as punitive and harsh.
These incidents highlight Musk’s controversial leadership style and his willingness to retaliate against critics.
5. “I will give you a child”: After Swift endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, Musk responded to her self-description as a “childless cat lady” with the comment, “Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life.” This was widely criticized as inappropriate and labeled as sexual harassment by many.
6. Nazi Salute Controversy: In January 2025, Musk shared doctored images comparing Taylor Swift to Adolf Hitler, suggesting her fans were akin to the “Hitler Youth.” The images were proven fake, and Swift’s fans demanded legal action against Musk for dragging her into the controversy.
These actions have sparked significant backlash, with many accusing Musk of harassment and inappropriate behavior.

He is brilliant and arguably we would be at a loss as a species without some of his actions but wow, he is piece of work

I find it interesting when Tesla says something and the first deduction is nothing but doom and gloom. It makes sense to not have more vehicles without SS not because demand is a problem. It’s because Tesla won’t make much profit, even if they sell a LOT! SS also means you cannot have curves that’s needed for aerodynamics. CT is not very aerodynamic. If someone comes and says it’s a fancy toy or a billionaires pet project, I seriously laugh at it. Go put it for real truck use - the results speak for themselves. I already hit the panels TWICE in just two months while moving some stuff. Zero dent or scratch! My other car would have easily scratched or dented.

People who hate Elon hate CT, and they come up all types of reasons to justify how bad the truck is! This misinformation feeds FUD further. Most are not buying CT for this reason. No other truck can even come close to what CT is.

I predict CT will dominate the market within a decade. All these people who hate CT will be singing a different tune then!

I remember each and every one. No lies detected.

Not sure why we’re listing this and we’re definitely gonna get shut down for politics now but these things all happened. None of this is media spin or any other things that apologist just like to say.

Better than 90% of these are just from his OWN TWEETS I read myself in real time because I was on Twitter and following him directly. I left Twitter before he bought it.

Because Twitter has always sucked and is toxic AF and you couldn’t pay me to be on X.

I’ll bet a non-trivial number of the fan boys here weren’t even aware of his existence during some of these. He got a whole new set of fans after the red pill.

I came for the engineering and applied physics; not the juvenile shitposting, edge-lord social engineering or other nonsense.

“420” hilarious! ?

I tolerate the fart jokes in my car. I do not enjoy them. It’s been a very long time since I was a 12-year-old boy.

As a kid my friend’s dad was a very talented metal worker. I was pretty close with him and he endlessly extolled the virtues of stainless. So I love the material. That is my main draw. All the things that make stainless so great, also makes it very difficult to make cars with. The sharp angular surfaces and dramatic edges just freak people out. It looks cold, unfinished, and even dangerous to them. I love the industrial minimalist form, but I understand the how and why of it’s construction. Your average consumer sees it through an emotional lens. The CT isn’t welcoming. Elon stated in the call that he is now working on the robot and AI. His work at Tesla is going to be increasingly in that space. The mission is why I love Tesla. That dude is lost in technology dreams that seem inhuman to people that (for right or wrong) are frightened by a dystopian future.. The CT styling is poorly timed for this moment in history. I don’t see that changing. Shame. It’s a work of industrial art.
Very well said.

The flatness of the Cybertruck is a choice. There are plenty of curves on my DeLorean.

The Cybertruck has a 0.34 Cd and is very aerodynamic for its size.

Since you can't follow direction, I'm going to comment on your first option:

Are you familiar with the condition Asperger's Syndrome ?

There he goes again! Blah blah blah blah I have a DeLorean AND a CT (a.k.a. DePlorean) I’m better than you! Nana nana nana! Winning! Shcwing!

Did you know DeLorean’s have curves? ?

On and on with this guy! ????

I don't believe that's true. Flatness was imposed by the choice of the material for the structural skin.

Effectively they wanted to make it as thin as possible for cost/weight reasons, but strong enough to contribute towards the rigidity of the vehicle. That is how they decided on the cold-rolled [stainless] steel, which is both clever and problematic. The clever part is that cold-rolled gives them [work] hardened steel without having to do post-processing (heat treatment, which for parts of that size, volume, appearance, distortion issues would be a non-starter anyway). The problematic part is that even at a relatively low thickness it's already difficult to bend and practically impossible (again cost effectively) to stamp. This is manufacturing in reverse - normally stamping would be done in the annealed state to reduce stamping tool wear and pressure requirements, but here they start with hardened material and thus can't apply traditional sheet metal processes. The fact this is stainless steel adds a bit to the naughty mix, but I don't believe it adds as much as the fact it's hardened. Most of the famous naughtiness of stainless is revealed in welding and machining processes, not as much in stamping.

Then, the choice of stainless steel for exterior had a different design basis. They wanted to reduce cost and increase volume production by eliminating the need for the paint steps. Obviously stainless is more expensive than comparable grades of carbon steel, but they wouldn't do it if the numbers weren't pretty close and overall win was achieved.

The Cybertruck has a 0.34 Cd and is very aerodynamic for its size.
I don't believe aerodynamics is a product of size. You can have very large objects that are aerodynamic, and very small things that are the opposite. What you're citing is the drag coefficient, which indeed factors in the size as it deals with forces which will increase with object's size.

You are right. I meant compared to other EVs. Elon mentioned this as well in his Joe Rogan interview
