Lost its bond with the steel, the glue almost felt rubbery.. I actually took the piece to Naperville SC and asked them to glue it back on, but they told me entire assembly has to be replaced..
That’s very interesting!

the recall says 1% affected. Or about 480. Do we think they did an analysis of the number of trucks sold subject to freezing temps?

Didnt some YouTuber show that the problem was they didnt use the right glue to lock the screws and he did it himself and they were fine? Looks like Tesla didnt take that advice.

Are they replacing the panels or fixing them?

If they are replacing them it’s going to be a PIA for those of us who have wrapped the car!
Yikes I have a Halo wrap this sounds very expensive to replace!

I tend to just read past all the negative ramblings and look for the little gems of knowledge. Love my Cyber Truck, love everything about it. Still can't park it and walk away without taking one last glimpse over the shoulder before going into a store. I walk in grinning ear to ear, every time! Loved my model X, love the wife's model 3 (wish I had her in a Y) can't imagine owning another vehicle. I have had the gambit over the years. 66 Mustang (First Love), Ford Bronco, VW GTI, Jeep Cherokee, Mini Cooper SS, Mazda 121, Astro Van, S10 Blazer, Samurai, Ram 2500, Ram 1500 (Cummings, full Bank System, custom suspension with 10" of travel) Merc SLK 350, BMW 650i, BMW X5M, Chevy Volt, Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, Ford 150 (eco twin turbo), ModelXP100D, Model3LR, CyberTruck Beast basically in that order between the wife and I. The CT is by FAR the best of the best. Every car has a quirk, issue, recall and expense. The CT is in a class of its own. I can't imagine having any other vehicle right now or ever for that matter. Hope you all are having a great weekend!
Amen to all that. I was going to write a similar post with similar vehicle experiences. I'll throw in a fun, non-braggy tidbit was a mechanical engineer with a auto manufacturing focus...and believe this vehicle is insanely awesome.

I sent in a service request for this, I'm in Tucson, AZ. Response I got back is parts are not available yet and the request cannot be fulfilled until there is a bulletin that can be applied for corrective action. I supposedly will be receiving a letter. I asked about the wrap, and whoever responded in the app just ignored that. I asked the shop that did my wrap (a limited edition color, so it was expensive!), and he quoted me $350 to do the two cant rails. Asked a different shop but still waiting for a response. At least I have some left over PPF material that should be enough to do those two trims but my worry is I have a planned long road trip coming up mid-April for over 3 weeks and I'd hate to have an issue when on the road. The trim pieces do move slightly if I rock it back and forth, it doesn't feel super solid.

RIP my wrap
Mine is wrapped too, and I think they owe something to 'make you whole'. For example, in an accident, insurance will pay to restore your vehicle with any custom 3rd party add-ons.

As replacing exterior panels is quite odd for the automotive industry - I think Tesla should make some offer to compensate for the re-work. Tesla can 'repair / reglue' the cant rails - but is choosing not to.

Consider: If you had paid for a trailer hitch & harness install - then a Recall requires them to replace the bumper. These type of owner vehicle upgrades are acceptable, and that bumper replacement would have to include returning the vehicle to the owners state.

The dealer's rotate and align wheels and tires even though they are not OEM rims and tires.

Lets us see...

IMO: Not putting on your Di*K attitude would be best approach when talking about how they will deal with wrapped vehicles.

Consider 1: Especially, if your cant rails are not compromised. You can argue that having Tesla replace them - allows 'Tesla' to comply with the recall - which they are *required* to do. You are not - especially if your vehicle is compromised or lost value in the process. [half ass vinyl wrap would depreciate the value]

Consider 2: Tesla could 'repair' the cant rails - by regluing your existing panels. However, TESLA elected to take the cost burden to REPLACE them in addressing the Recall. In addressed the recall, they have to take into account the full scope of their implementation plans for their actions.

Consider 3: Vinyl wrap does not void the Tesla warranty. So it is not an 'unauthorized' modification.

So ask your service center how Tesla corporate was planning to handle replacing cant rails on wrapped vehicles - when they do have the option to effect a repair - but choose not to. I could argue that Tesla is pushing part of the recall cost to the vehicle owner.

My concern is the lack of basic manufacturer responsibility exhibited by the common worker - who has no problem re-iterating corporate policy.

Let us all recall the Tesla Service people - are people, someone's brother, Sister, Dad or Mom. They want be happy and make you happy. Come from the 'I all want us to be happy' attitude.

I've had people do amazing things to help me out - when I align with them, tell them I appreciate their help and understanding. Get them on your side.

Regards
Jack

I like others don’t want a recall for their vehicles, but sometimes these thing are unavoidable. Vehicle manufacturers try their best to cover everything before releasing it, but that’s impossible. No vehicles would be released then. I had cars from Lexus, Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Toyota, Honda, Audi, Land Rover and Acura and every single one of them had something wrong with them. The only issue I have with this recall is that it has a HUGE dangerous hazard. If my panel were to fall off when I’m on the highway that would definitely cause an accident if there was a vehicle following behind me. God forbid it kills someone. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself. My CT is in the shop for another issue. When I brought up the recall they said they don’t have advise from HQ or the tools on what to do. I asked can they at least check my panels and make sure it‘s not on the verge of falling off. They said they will, but in all honesty they need to do something more. What? I have no idea. I just don’t want to be on the news saying my CT caused ten call pile up. I love my CT and won’t give it up for anything else on the market, but they need to resolve this problem quickly.

Not fixable with an over the air update, but the body panels need addressed, delivery hold on some now so just like the brake pedal the panels will likely need fixed at a service center.
First, it's NOT the body PANELS, it's the TRIM...

Second, it was the accelerator pedal that had the issue, not the brake pedal...

Fair enough on the trim vs body panel verbiage.
For the pedal I am a Tesla owner so I only use one pedal for everything :)

Technically, there's no such thing as an unauthorized modification as the manufacturer cannot set such limits on their warranty.

The onus is on them to prove a specific modification made the fault they're refusing to repair, or makes it too dangerous for them to touch. Not the owner.
