Is the Cybertruck asking for more power than the V3 station can provide?

on 3 occasions charging at a low SOC I’ve experienced ramping up to 250kw, but then immediately get this message and drops down to 35kw for a couple of minutes before slowly ramping back up to 250 and then down to 35.

Is there a bug or problem with my truck? I recall seeing a video about this issue but can’t find it and don’t know if this has been resolved?

Do I need to go to a V4 or what?

I believe 35kw is the "limp mode" when the thermal sensors are reading bad/null data.
This has happened to 3 different V3 superchargers.

Where is this limp mode reading from? The supercharger or the car?

Yeah, usually means truck is asking for more than charger can provide.
Any old errors logged on the service menu?

I didn’t check the error logs. Didn’t think it would be logged but will check next time I go to the truck.

This is the message that pops on the screen while charging.

The supercharger can and will limit if the cables are faulty or the liquid cooling isnt functioning properly. All that juice warms them cables pretty quick. I’d try all the stalls then goto another station. There is a spot in the app to report your charging experience, under charging history.

Did you see I mentioned it happened at 3 different superchargers? ?

It was a bit vague, some call each post a supercharger, some call the station itsself the supercharger. My response was clairify stalls vs stations. If indeed you drove to the other side of town and that station was also doing it. Then I’d inspect your charge port for damage or gum / junk/ debris stuck inside . Otherwise it’s possible that site location is the issue

Especially if the posts all connected to the same cabinet.
Site level power limiting is a thing too.

Hey! I've seen this before. Make a service ticket being very descriptive of the problem. This was what fixed it for me. If you venture into service mode you will probably also see some temperature sensor trouble codes.

Thanks. This is very informative. I’ll check in a bit.

Did your truck also drop to 35kw when reaching near 250? It doesn’t happen when on a V2 site since it only goes to 150kw max.

Gotcha. I meant 3 different sites.

Yes, it only happened at high amperage. No problems when at 3rd party 350kW stations that support 1000v. The behavior for me was that it would happily do the 250kW for a while, then drop to 32kW-35kW, then go back up to normal speed after several minutes, then drop again, etc.

Exactly my situation. Went into service mode and saw this error in log relating to HV battery:
