this. Last June, there was a massive Midwest hail storm here. So bad, that they turned on the tornado sirens.. something I’d never seen done for anything other than a tornado warning.

driving home in the truck to put our x in the garage (it was in the driveway) it sounded like shotgun blasts to the roof glass and windshield as the baseball sized ice balls slammed everything in Bellevue/Papillion Nebraska. Most my neighbors cars were very very badly damaged. I remember thinking while driving home “pleaseeee live up to your hype, glass and steel”.

It did. Not a single mark after I was able to get it cleaned up. Definitely not a gimmick.

also, sentry was released in 2019. Before the cybertruck was even unveiled. I remember that software update. Can’t believe it’s been so long.
Just left STRATCOM for the Pentagon in 2023. Still have two grown daughters there in Omaha. I miss Papillion and the "traffic" there.

I have a 2023 Maverick Lariat. Great truck, when the recalls didn't plague it. I had it die twice on the day of big trips and just gave it over to my son to drive. I then bought a Plug-In Hybrid Mitsubishi Outlander which was excellent except the tech was just so old c/w Tesla. So then I bought a Non-Foundation AWD CT. My AWD CT maneuvers very much like the Maverick into and out of parking spaces, parking garages etc. and actually has a better turning radius. But the real enhancement over the Maverick is the FSD- That is hands down YEARS beyond any other car manufacturers self driving/ adaptive cruise technology.
Yeah, but you have to admit that the Ford360 and Copilot in the Maverick Lariat is pretty decent. I mean, it'd keep a lane pretty well and distance. I miss my little 2023 Mav sometimes...

We were in there at the same time then. I started just after moving to the new building in early 2020, and retired about a year ago. Don’t miss it in there all that much ha.

Yeah the hail storms here are about the biggest selling point for the truck in this region. We love this area, hence us sticking around.

2016 for me there. I got to be in both buildings. I was actually working in the new building setting it up and running in a dual capacity way to make sure we could take over for bldg. 500. It wasn't bad there at all in Eagle Hills there. May be back in a couple years... never know.

That's terrifying! I think your experience was worse than mine. We were stuck in a parking lot and, yes, it's INCREDIBLY loud. But I wouldn't say ours were baseball sized, more like golf ball. Still the biggest I've ever seen in my life! Glad to know we weren't at our limit with golf balls ?

This storm from 15 years ago obliterated the DeLorean panels, although the glass miraculously survived.

That's about what I experienced, terrifying stuff! Yeah, that doesn't happen in southern California ?

We get hail, but it's like pea size or less...

When I was stationed in North Dakota, I had just gotten my Silverado trail boss in spring 2019 and the truck was at work when a super cell rolled through with golf ball or similar in size hail to Gus's photo. it was about 5k to fix the 30 or so dings on my truck. couldn't see them in the silver paint until it was dried off. I was stationed on the central coast of California before that, and never had to worry about anything except for wildfire ash messing up a clean car during the summers.

The ones here last year might not have been baseball, but very close. ultra jagged and looked like those green spiky fruit that I think are horse chestnuts or something. most of the houses in that little corridor and in my neighborhood needed new roofs and siding, and the vehicle damage in the area was crazy. it was so loud in the truck at 55 mph racing the 10 minutes to get home. at least no one else was crazy enough to be on the road and we're all pulled over. we have a two car garage, and the truck is happy in the driveway when storms roll through now. love that peace of mind.

Thank you all again and I knew I could count on you all giving good answers to honest curious questions.

It may be me but seems like Telsa could do better if they did some ads on TV or such. You all have enlighten me on several nice features of not only the CyberTruck but all models.

Telsa should advertise the Sentry mode somehow. Seems like a natural for a TV or print ad.

Hope you are enjoying your Cybertruck and just brush off the haters. Keep your sentry mode on seems the safe bet now.

Again thanks and if I was 40 again........... But I am not and the Cybertruck is just to much for me at my age and health issues. So I went with something (my CyberMavrick) that is still a truck for small stuff runs at HD or Lowes.
Ziggy, I’m over 70 and just traded in my X for a Cybertruck. I found it easier to drive than the X especially with the self driving option. Did you take a test drive in one? I made that “mistake“ while my X was in for its 3 year service. I say “mistake“ because once I drove it and found out that all my golf clubs with the golf bag fit into the frunk I was sold!

If planning on getting a used one, better act fast, prices are starting to edge back up.

Been in high $70k’s past month, now back in the $80k’s.

But might be new trades, they start high and drop prices each week?!

Them: “why would anyone need bulletproof doors or shatterproof windows on their truck.”

Also them: “Let’s attack every vehicle that man has made.” ?

You have to be "in the know" to want to buy a Tesla, especially with all the negative misinformation out there designed to make you not want one. You might say owning a Tesla is an indicator that you are not too stupid to see through the negative fake narratives.

Oh, come on, we already only catch the dumbest criminals that haven't heard about all the cameras. Advertising Sentry Mode would reduce that further to only complete idiots! These would be people so marginal, so out of it, that we might feel guilty prosecuting them.

Again thanks and if I was 40 again........... But I am not and the Cybertruck is just to much for me at my age and health issues.
On the contrary. The older you are, and the worse your eyesight and reflexes and the higher the chance you could have a mid-trip heart attack or simply lose consciousness while travelling, the more you stand to benefit from a vehicle with FSD. Especially now that it's on the cusp of actually being able to drive unsupervised.

If you lose your license (or your eyesight) during your ownership of a vehicle with FSD, you will be glad you had the forsight to get it before it was fully autonomous and priced out of reach.

Meh, Tesla sells by word of mouth, they've not relied on MSM ads since inception. One of the reasons the MSM seems to HATE Tesla is IMHO that they don't get the massive advertising $$$ they get from other manufacturers. Investors have debated this for years, fair point on both sides....
Considering that the best-selling car in the world for the last two years in a row is a Tesla Model Y, and it got there without relying on big advertising spends, I would question why anyone would think any car company had to spend big money on advertising unless their products were so terrible they wouldn't sell at all without advertising. The Model Y outsold every other car and truck in the world, most of which were heavily advertised with the billions of dollars legacy auto companies spend every year on advertising.

Where do those billions of dollars go? To legacy media companies who want to see Tesla fail. Tesla doesn't want to support the very companies spreading negative propoganda about them.

The success formula here is great cars, great price = great word of mouth sales. New car buyers don't like to waste their money. Guess where those advertising dollars come from. Yep, right out of the buyers' wallets.

You realize I agree!
I've been "All In" since 4 months after getting one of the first Model 3s, then a new Y that I still love, but the CT is now my daily driver!
