The hood panel is in the same plane as the windshield. Because the drivers eyes are below that plane, the hood cannot reflect glare into the driver's eyes.

This is a convenience item. Not everything in life has a payback. Some make life easier. So cost for these products is usually relevant for how much inconvenience it reduces rather than payback. In this case it charges a portable battery so one doesn't have to use the battery from the truck for other uses. Is it for everyone? Nope, but it beats setting up a panel array and putting a panel array away. I am sure Cybertruck Co is working on one for the camper top.

Great job @CYBERTRUCKco!

Novel idea with a reasonable price tag.

-Will this product trickle charge the HV battery to help eliminate vampire drain if parked in the sun?

-Projected lifespan of your product, including wiring cables subject to UV exposure?

-Will the frunk still lift with the added weight?

There is currently no official mechanism for a low/ medium voltage source to charge Cybertruck.
So here is what I envisioned. You put an Ecoflow delta 2 max in the back corner of the vault. Doesn’t occupy a lot of space and connects to the 800w Ecoflow alternator charger which acts as both a battery tender and input for the power station. It can manage either a 12v or 24v battery in either direction and has 1kw of solar input through two mppt’s.
then you get something like this and put it in the smugglers bay (slightly smaller or larger is minutia I think).
https://a.co/d/4hx39c6
Then you hook the alternator charger to that and connect let’s say 200w on the frunk as shown here and about 600w of panels elsewhere with some snazzy aerodynamically well thought out wire path.
any time you are driving or parked in the sun, you’re probably pulling 400w-600w off your 800w array.
when you fill up the 2kwh delta 2 max it fills up the 8 or so kWh battery under the vault using the alternator charger.
Then, when you are parked, you hook the mobile connector up from the delta 2 max to the car’s charge port. You can also mostly close the vault.
so….you are now getting the 400w-600w off the solar inputs to the delta 2 max but also the 800w from the alternator charger back into the power station. So you can charge at about 1.5kw for quite a few hours before the reserves are depleted.
over an extended period of time, that’s real charging. It means you don’t have to sweat being able to get home from your remote campsite. Also means you don’t have to sweat using electricity as you want at your campsite.

Maybe they mean the driver on the road in front of you ?‍♂?

Literally the first person on this entire thread to consider anyone but themselves. Including me. That’s hilarious.
Thanks Abilisk. That’s a pretty legit question.

Gave it some thought. Asked Grok- and it’s got potential if it was wired to feed the truck. I’m not ready to 3M something that’s used 8 hours a day on good days to the drunk- but it does give it a bit more of that LA apocalypse look.

Conclusion(Grok)

The 200W solar panel on your Cybertruck’s trunk hood can generate about 800 Wh/day in sunny conditions, giving you ~2.2 miles of range per day (up to ~2.9 miles in ideal conditions, down to ~0.5 miles on cloudy days). This is useful for small top-ups, like offsetting idle losses or short commutes, but it’s not a primary charging solution. For more range (e.g., Musk’s 15 miles/day), you’d need a larger panel array, likely covering the full tonneau or adding fold-out panels, which isn’t what this 200W spec describes. Check your local sunlight conditions and driving habits to refine the estimate, and weigh the panel’s cost against its modest savings. If you want to explore a specific scenario (e.g., your city’s sunlight or driving patterns), let me know!
