What is the consensus for the Foundation series Powershare hardware credit?

Yeah. You could also buy a high demand item like the cyberquad before Christmas and flip it.

Ouch, that sounds like it would hurt
😉
Yes but it would sell fast and you might actually do some kid a favor selling to at a slight discount

I've seen a couple of posts where it stated that you must have the code that they sent you in an email when you actually check out the purchase from the store.

If the credit shows up on the web site you shouldn't need the email code. The code loads the $2,500 onto your account.

Thanks for the info.
The project manager did say they were going to go back to their management and see if they could do anything about moving the credit over but my guess is that they're just going to tell them no again. It was really upsetting to find this out after spending all this time combining stack vents in the roof so that I could add more panels and working with PG and E to get the service upgrade and all that. Just wish they'd let me use the credit, it's all inside of Tesla I don't know why they can't just do this for folks?

Now I've seen a few posts that make it sound like you cannot actively use Powershare if you get a Powerwall of three and solar panels. but there have been some posts from tesla that make it sound like you can but not yet.

The Tesla Solar Group says that I can also use Powershare with the Powerwall 3.

I noticed on their quote they did not use a universal charger. When I asked my project manager about it he said that was missed and he would upgrade it to the universal charger for an additional $200 or whatever.

But looking at some of the posts online maybe the design team didn't add it because it's not required for Powershare when used with a Powerwall 3 but I don't like the fact that the quote doesn't mention anything about Powershare.

Nothing about the Powerwall install needs to change to (eventually) support PowerShare
OTHER THAN, you need your WC (any 240V one) on the backed up side of the Gateway. EDIT: or Backup Switch
If you don't already have a WC, go with UWC.

OK but they've told me a few times that I should be able to use Powershare without a Gateway, just with the backup switch, Powerwall 3 and solar. But I've seen some posts stating that you do not need a universal EV charger if you're using Powershare with a Powerwall 3 but that hasn't been enabled yet.

Well krap! I got my Foundation Series in March of 2024. I was planning to install the powershare eventually with my existing solar and a new battery. That plan went south when my house burned down in November 2024. I understood the $2,500 gateway/UWC offer expired in March of 2026 for me (one year from CT delivery), so I ordered the powershare/UWC and have the two items in the box at my rental house. Initially, I understood there was a requirement to have a certified electrician receive the powershare hardware. I was able to get it directly. I've started reconstruction and was planning to install solar, one powerwall battery, and the powershare gateway/UWC. I have not been on the forum for almost a year as I've been kinda busy. I can't believe the powershare does not work with solar and a powerwall. Yes, I justified buying the CT because, as I bragged to my friends, it would be able to power my house for a long time in conjunction with the solar panels. As I understand it now, I can spend the money to install the gateway, but it won't work as intended until when? Well krap!

Powerwall can work without a Gateway if paired with a backup switch.
Powerwall can also use a remote energy monitor, but that does not provide backup and would not work with Powershare.

A powerwall setup does not need the UWC for future PowerShare functionality, just a 240V EVSE. If you don't have one currently, the UWC is nice, but not required.

Sorry about the house. 😮💨
If you are getting Powerwall, don't install the Powershare Gateway.
Powershare will eventually work with the Powerwall, but only as a backup system.

Thank you, we can replace the house just fine. If I'm not installing the gateway, then I don't need a certified electrician. Will I be able to dovetail the gateway in later without making some special provisions for it now? Thanks again.

Certified electrician being a Tesla requirement?
Powerwall will need a (non-powershare) Gateway or Backup Switch. If you are planning on a partial home backup, then I'd suggest building that in now with those loads on a separate sub panel. Then set up the feed between main panel and sub such that you can run it through the Gateway eventually. As well as prewiring for the Powerwall.
Technically, could use the Powershare Gateway as a stand in for the Powerwall version, but may be better off keeping it sealed and selling it.
