The gap is easy to cover and not a big deal. Definitely would help with waterproofing I think, but if it’s stuck on there (one side on the glass and the other on the aero flap) it means you can’t remove the aero flap without peeling it off. And that means you can’t open your cybertent without peeling it off. Not a great design in that particular spot but you can’t open the tent without removing that whole cover/aeroflap.

one more point about this to hopefully save someone some frustration, if you have a cybertent and purchase a rearview camera and mount it on the top of the car, you should NOT hide the wire between the glass and the Aeroflap. Just stick it to the top of the glass. Even if you cut a notch in the aeroflap it will eventually transect the wire.
In my case it was our friends at the Tesla SC that did it .…the first two times.
The third one was on me.
…oh. Oh no. Mine hasn’t been damaged yet but noooow I’m gonna fix it thank you.

And isn't he guttering the wrong side? The water comes in from the top side of that piece where it meets the glass, not the tonneau side.
agree with this. you want to cover the joint between the aerocover and the glass of the roof, not the free edge of the aerocover (thats where my fix was most effective at least)

Should be a recall, although it doesn’t meet the criteria.

The owner shouldn’t have to fix this post sale.

There are many aftermarket out for years that seal and don’t leak.

Sorry but Tesla had another two years and as result dumped way more new tech into the unit, when they could have done a bit of old school analog to correct this water collection issue.

I’ve had 8 Retrax Pro systems on everything from a Ridgeline to an F-350. They all leak. They are great systems, but no less leaky than my CT.

creating a dry PU truck bed with tonneau cover
im ok as a DIY as water proof bed a unicorn in the industry
agree, why cant Tesla just do it

step one, the U track weather stripping on the front edge of the aero cover, sealing against the glass
steps two, insert the foam filled tube into the rear of the tonneau cover gasket against the tailgate

did not do yet, but followed the video, its either 1/4 or 3/8s cord

I also used 3/8 backer rod which is a bit squishier and I imagine easier to handle than solid rubbber.

agree, in the video, seems tough to get the rod of foam all the way through
looking forward to these two measures taken and a dry bed

I also added a gap shield to the tailgate gap to prevent dirt road dust and it works awesome.

What did you use as a gap shield for the tailgate and how and where did you install it? The dust intrusion into the vault driving on any dirt road is horrendous, I'm desperate to improve this.

Yep, I ordered from Tractor Supply I think? Here are a couple of links.

or this:

And yeah, I'll post some pics here. Just below where the tapered bed runners meet the end of the bed, it's a perfect 1 inch area that I put the taped side down. I also cut the slit for the smugglers bay door and handle. It has drastically cut down on dust/dirt, etc. Drains well also.
