No HEPA Filter in Dual Motor AWD

So I was looking under the compare models section for the Cybertruck. They’ve done a good job with it. As I was scrolling I saw there’s only a particulate filter and no bio defense mode for the cheaper truck. I hadn’t seen this mentioned anywhere so wanted to share. I have used bio defense several times on my Model Y and really do enjoy it.

My Dual Motor Cybertruck has hands-free power frunk open on aproach, I find it very annoying.. you can't stand in front of the frunk without it starting to beep beep beep and then open if you stay too long. haven't looked at the cabin filter yet on the dual motor, I would be surprised if Tesla made 2 different parts for it, that is very unlike Tesla, remember, the best part is no part, or in the case where a part is needed, the same part.

It looks like only the Cyberbeast has pressurized bioweapon hepa. The premium just has the hepa filter. The dual motor $59.9k has a cabin filter that for $100 you can get the hepa filter from Tesla..

But answers vary so who really knows?

The discontinued RWD variant did not include a HEPA filter, so we can assume the SAWD will be the same now that the website comparator lists it.

This literally just happened to me. I had an older man ask about my truck and i was standing right in front. My phone was in my pocket so it triggered the auto frunk. I heard the beep but i didn't want to be rude and interrupt him so i tried so move, which wasn't far enough. The frunk opened and nearly gave the man a heart attack... i felt so bad lmao. In the end, he was so amazed by the technology in the truck that he was like, "i can't even work my phone, I could never drive this".

Premium AWD has bio mode. Both premium and beast use same filter which is available in the shop.

This will be a noticeable loss for me if it's not at least HEPA-filter-compatible.

Odds are, you can simply buy the HEPA filter and install it after the fact. You won't get the bioweapon defense mode option, but it's not much more than max fan. My Model X didn't come with the HEPA filter and I was able to buy and install it. There'd be little advantage for Tesla to do anything other than just leave the HEPA filter out.

I found it annoying at first..then I changed it not to open at home. But when I want it to open - after shopping - I find it annoying in that it takes so long to open

I literally JUST went down a rabbit hole researching this yesterday. What I found verified that the SAWD does not come with HEPA Filter and does not have bio defense mode.

The Cybertruck parts catalog has two different HVAC assemblies listed. A base one, and a premium one (both are $2300 though…). They also have two filters listed; a base filter for $25 and a HEPA filter for $100.

The SAWD likely has a weaker blower system. HEPA filters require a stronger blower to push the air through the filters since they have a higher air pass through resistance. Additionally, bio defense mode works by pressurizing the cabin with a higher blower output.

I’m guessing this is where Tesla was able to shed a few bucks.

Info only: That can be turned off if you don’t use it. I turned it off for my CT.

Ok, but the Premium Dual Motor AWD and The Cyberbeast both use the premium HVAC, I assume, correct?
