There's a video of a truck hitting an abrupt drop in the dirt trail, and the windshield cracked. This should not happen as the goal was Baja style capabilities.

That is crazy to see, I saw the one photo of the Cybertruck in Texas hit by the hail storm but all the other cars next to it didn’t have any cracked/shattered wind shields. I booked their service for Monday and they said they will do a tension test to see if that is the case or if it was an impact. But literally it wasn’t moving in my driveway… had it for less than 2 weeks with under 300 miles on it ?. They said it would be $2,600 if it was not under warranty
Built for any planet, they said.

Following as I’m also a Floridian and I’m wondering about heat impact.

I was getting ready to post a thread asking Southern owners how the CT fares being parked outside now that we are getting into the heat of the summer. Mine will live outside because the classics are in the garage, plus the CT won’t fit anyway.

My cars outside have windshield sunscreens and are covered. I’m hoping that will be sufficient for the CT.

OP, please keep us updated on the resolution.
In central CA, hit 106 today. CT chillin in the driveway no cover just the cabin overheat protection on. Windshield holding up, for now (knocks on wood). Will report back if anything happens

So has anyone had their Cybertruck wind shield cracked because of heat or stress?? I live in Florida and it was 95 degrees but internal temperature hit 110 degrees. It was parked in my driveway no trees or anything that would fall on it. I was getting ready to go to get a consultation for PPF wrapping when it just cracked. Car wasn’t moving or anything.
Sigh terrible luck seriously

Do you have tint installed on the windshield? If yes, what percentage?

Did you have any issues that you noticed in the windshield prior to it cracking? I have a defect in mine. It looks like a water mark or a long thin smudge inside the laminated glass. It is scheduled for replacement now. I was concerned that this could become a nucleation site for crack propagation as it is a defect inside the glass structure. Perhaps check the windows for any of these subtle marks.

Not saying it’s a good idea but if your window is cracked by debris on the highway in Florida it’s a free repair by the state just call your insurance company. I have ring cameras in my garage and driveway so if mine cracks Tesla is getting a video of it in real time lol

That's a pretty complex fracture pattern going on. I've had a stress crack happen on the rear glass of a Model 3, but it was just a single crack that only propagated 6" or so and didn't grow any more before the glass was replaced. Can you run your finger on the glass and feel the crack on either the inside or the outside of the windshield? If inside, it's almost certainly a stress crack, if on the outside it's less clear but look for a point of impact.

If it is from an impact, Florida insurance covers windshield replacement with $0 out of pocket. The only catch is that when I have had to replace windshields Tesla does not work directly with insurance. I paid out of pocket and then submitted a glass claim to my insurance and they reimbursed me for the full cost of replacement. Good luck!

That stinks man. These are the woes of being the early adopters. I would think insurance would cover it. In my state, windshield replacements have no deductibles, but not sure about FL. I would first try Tesla though because this is a manufacturer's defect. Good luck!

Yea I was trying to figure where the origin was but wasn’t able to find it. I did run my fingers on the outside and it is smooth there were no rough line cracks. Inside is a different story I did feel some of the lines and I notice there were some glass shards on the dashboard. *Might be hard to see you will need to zoom in*

Sucks I can’t enjoy the CY this weekend and will need to wait till Monday for now it is just sitting on the driveway. ?
