Rent a tri motor to play with and then decide, but I think if you are on the fence, a dual motor is a better value. Tri is over kill for daily usage.
Rent a beast for a few weeks and then get an AWD. That way you will have the experience of a beast but will own the more oractical AWD at the same total price of a beast but without some of the freebies (like another 6 months of free supercharging)! /jk

The only reason to go with the Cyberbeast is if you want supercar 0-60 times. The cyberbeast will provide near zero benefit for off-roading, low traction driving, etc.
The Beast's dual motor rear drive unit provides better control and traction when off roading (or anywhere needed). It's like an ideal locking differential, torque to the wheel with grip without any issues on high friction surfaces.

Yeah, technically, but for the OP and 99.9% of folks, that is not 20k worth of benefit in that arena.

My 2 cents... Not that anybody asked me. If you are like me in that you have waited over 4 years to own the fastest truck/most capable Tesla there is, and can afford it, get the Beast. Don't care about acceleration? Get the AWD. Resale isn't going to be a good reason to buy the Beast (or Foundation series...).
That's the classic fallacy.
The AWD HAS awesome acceleration.

People assume that Beast = Fast, so AWD most = slow. That's about as far from reality as you can get.

Your classic ICE = slow
AWD = many times faster than your ICE.

From @KScheidt in the "Dual Motor AWD Cybertruck is insanly fast" thread
For reference, a Ferrari F430 Berlinetta from the mid-2000s (less than 20 years ago) did 0-60 in 4.1s and the 1/4-Mile in 12.4s, essentially identical to the (likely underreported) specs for the CT FSAWD (0-60 in 4.1s and the 1/4 Mile in 12.4s). When compared to a more modern exotic, the brand new Lotus Emira (roughly the same price as an FSAWD) does 0-60 in 4.3s and the 1/4-Mile in 12.7s. So yeah, for a 7000lb truck on all-terrain tires, it's insanely fast!

You’re speaking like an 85yr old! You got some years left in you man! Drive fast and enjoy life!
I am not like Ricky Bobby lol I have no need to speed. I have learned to slow down and enjoy life at a normal pace. If you want to go fast then do so safely. If you want to slow your roll and enjoy life then do that. In the end each to his/her own. We are all cybertruck family (dysfunctional as it is :p ). Stay safe!

I ordered a Beast and took delivery and bought an AWD from a close friend that ordered and couldn’t afford it. I have driven both over the past 4 months 657 miles on Beast, 2700 miles on AWD that I use for work. They both are awesome. As I said in previous posts both had some quirky things go wrong that were taken care of at the dealer and by myself. The AWD is quick as hell and is probably more than enough power for a vast majority of buyers. The Beast is FAST. Lightning FAST. But in reality I hardly use it to it’s fullest potential. You basically run out of road. But it is nice to know there is that power. Honestly you can’t go wrong with either and you will need a plastic surgeon to get the smile off your face when driving either. Whatever your choice is I know you will be extremely satisfied. Good luck with everyones CT, both owners and waiters.

I got the dual motor. I've driven teslas for the past five years and range is far more significant to me than 0-60 speed. It's plenty fast.
I think exactly the same ... Range is our main worry ... so if I get 5-10 miles extra I will take it .....

I’ll be 55 in just over a month and I am definitely Ricky Bobby. I have a ‘23 Plaid (upgraded from a 21 M3P because of the FSD transfer) and a ‘21 ‘vett. Once my beast arrives at 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds my ‘vett will be the slowest car in my collection. What a time to be alive!

Someone relayed above how a friend reminded them that they never take their car out of chill mode so they didn’t need a Cyberbeast. That sounds like a perfect litmus test. My Plaid has never been out of Plaid mode. Not once. There was never a question as to whether I was going get the beast.

Shake and bake!
