Got the early reservation email. So disappointed that the truck I reserved isn't being produced and can't afford a FS. Didn't see any option to delay in the email nor in the link. Should have bought a new truck instead of waiting on CT, it would be nearly paid off by now.

I'd love to see stats on how many half ton ICE trucks are being sold this year that are $80K+. There do seem to be a lot of them and you don't necessarily have to go to the top trim level to get there. Truck sales in general do seem down quite a bit this year, of course.

Another thing, too, is that most looking at an $80K truck will likely qualify for the $7500 tax credit, making it a $72,500 truck.
not many $80k trucks being sold. I cannot find the numbers, but the most sold would be the workruck regular cab below $40k and then the crew cab in the 40s-50s.

2500 x 50 weeks (2-week shutdown) =

125,000 CT's annually.
That’s a lot, and I doubt that Tesla can sell them all. R1T and Lightning sold 20k each last year.

Even if I get the money, I won’t spend that much on CT.
I'm trying to decide what to do when I get my VIN.
Tesla can only sell so many $79,900 AWD and $60,900 RWD. I don't think those prices can hold once they ramp up to 125k/year.
What other $80k vehicle sells 125k/year+?

Cybertruck demand is the last thing Tesla is worried about now. Even with 125K vehicles per year, I think current reservation holders will have to wait for 3-4 years. Tesla hasn’t shared the conversion rate for Cybertruck reservations, but they are not at all worried about the demand. It’s not apples to apples with Rivian or Lightning. They all have slightly different customer base, though they all are electric trucks! If you don’t believe, ask Kim Kardashian why she bought two Cybertrucks instead of Rivian or Lightning ?

bet? The market for $80k cars, let alone $100k cars is very small. Tesla doesn't even sell 60,000 X/S in the US in a year.
I’ll do a gentleman’s bet of $100…..

Let’s workout the exact details

Ford also sold just 40,771 Mustang Mach Es last year so there's no way Tesla will sell close to that many Model Ys.

Sounds like they are generally able to match production to buyers right now for white AWD with AT tires. They still need to catch up with Beast and start delivering grey and Core wheel AS variants. We might see non-FS orders start next quarter, but that doesnt mean deliveries will. Possible going into the end of the year, and almost certainly going into 2025. I guess once they reach they end of the existing pre-orders they will start over again in the reservation queue. I had ordered two, but have only been invited to purchase one so far. Curious when they start over if I will be allowed to order my second or if they will not come back around to multiple order holders until the have exhausted single orders.

There is a limited number of buyers at $80k and even less at $100k. We are seeing with this with the low conversion rate of FS orders. We just don't know what the number is. I say there are not enough buyers at $80k to support 125k sales/yr.

If the AWD was priced at the intro price of $49,900 and RWD at $39,900 then 500k sales/yr. could be a possibility. We saw this with the Model Y. Prices had to go down to open up the number of potential buyers.

You did hear that Elon said non-FS start next quarter, right?
I know what he said, I also know he’s a salesman and he will say what he has to so ppl stay interested and wait longer.

Edit…. Once upon a time, he also said that the trimotor was going to be the first one that was released. And we see how that is turning out

I ordered in early February and received an offer to design a Foundation Series Cyber Truck for delivery June to August. I’m holding out for non Foundation truck.
