What concerned me was actually the vault cover it failed pretty badly and didn't appear to have been abused.
Did you not see that huge Jump?

BTW, word on the street is that if you want to jump your CT, the Vault cover should be in stored position. :ROFLMAO:

truck kept lowering when he was going faster because he was not in baja mode
I haven’t watched the video yet but did he even have Baja mode? He complained about something like no off road mode in earlier X post and everyone pointed out that he had the orange software update icon untouched.

Missing features and knowledge gap (fits the "dumb redneck" persona he is selling), but fun video and epic intro.

I wish I could say that NO Cybertrucks were harmed in the making of this video, I can't.

It was concerning to see the rear casting break while towing. I have to believe that the rear frame casting was previously damaged (cracked) by the testing (the concrete pipe pothole test?), or maybe when the CT was backed straight off the rollback. That crack then contributed to the casting failure during the tow.

In my years on this board, THIS VIDEO is the most insane thing I have seen! I am glad they did the testing, so I don't have to. It is funny, sad and truly amazing. Worth the watch.

and 4 months later....
For Sale: Slightly used Cybertruck, very low miles!! (Minimal parking lot damage.)

Does look like there is an opportunity to improve the robustness of the hitch. It appears to have snapped right at the connection point of the forged steel receiver to the casting. Perhaps extending a forged bar into the space between the walls of the casting and adding more anchor points there would allow it to withstand much more abuse.

Was it also shocking to you that he dropped the trailer hitch of a 7000 pound truck on a block of concrete, not once, but twice, but didn't subject the F-150 to the same test (since it couldn't even make it over), then used the CT to pull the F-150 off the pipes? Was it also shocking that the CT was driven faster over the jump than the F-150? Was the bias in the video shocking to you too?

The frame snapping is shocking to me... I guess there really is no replacement for the steel body-on-frame design

Now I really am starting to consider the Silverado EV, with its frame design being another checkbox. I'm RN1151XXXX for a FS Cyberbeast so I still have time to decide

It's coming down to a choice between the Cyberbeast's looks+performance versus an actual EV truck

He definitely totaled the truck many times over in the video but I think the receiver failure was repairable. Casting only broke at the connection point. Not "in half." A good TIG welder and maybe some extra reinforcement plates can get it back in service stronger than it was new.

I honestly don't think he had a bias but, you are right, he isn't particularly fond of well controlled experiments. CT definitely won the zombies armed with C4 attack test which is what *really* matters! :)

The unload didn't hurt the hitch. The pothole concrete tube and block drop did.

I also dont think it was bias... He gave the f150 all it had when hitting the jump.. The f150 has 1/3 the horsepower of the Cyber of course its going fly higher.

I fear the frame snapping off will haunt the cybertruck until redesign (regardless of the moment it may have snapped). Looks bad.

Also go to 10:50. Dude finds some stacked washers with some duct tape holding the truck together :-|. ugh...

I'm fine with a crumple zone failing when subjected to multiples of normal loading.

The washers are spacers between the body trim (frunk tub?) and frame, the tape holds them in place while fastening. Not ideal, but not a problem either.

The hitch ripping off definitely shows the difference between aluminum and steel as a structural component. He obviously damaged the frame in the log and concrete pipe tests, but steel would have bent and continued to bend, where aluminum work hardens as it bends and then fails catastrophically. All his tests were clearly designed to do as much damage as possible to both vehicles, but his lack of understanding of the Cybertruck led him to damage it more severely than he did the F150. Now we all get to endure 'Cybertruck frame rips off on pothole.' articles alongside the 'Carwash voids Tesla warranty' ones...
